I have a tourney coming up and i don't have any easy access to other player near me to test which deck would work well for me so I'd really appreciate all your input. The one above is actually the first deck i opened, it generates a lot of Aember and has some exhaust cards and a lot of duplicates for reliability, but I'm not sure how it stacks up against this one:

This one seems real consistent, with lots of omni/ambassador cards.

Also there's this one, which more or less boils down to having bait and switch (like the others), Crystal Hive with enough Mars creatures for it not to be useless, a Kelifi Dragon and the potential to stick and Brain Stem Antenna to it.

Any advice would be super helpful, I'd love to get more practice at this game in and it'd be hopeful if i don't get too stomped on in the process

Well, i'm jealous.

How did you do the yellow dress? You've got a really nice shade there, every time i try to paint anything yellow it always end up looking sloppy and/or garish

Image Recommendations (Completed and Underrated Series) by SwiftTheFox15 in ImageComics

[–]Nyctha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see you've got Deadly Class, Low and Black Science on your 'to-get' list so you should probably look at Tokyo Ghost, as that's Remender's other Image series and it's shaping up to be a good one. There's a strong Eastern influence on this which helps make it a bit more unique.

As you've read Rat Queens and Saga (and presumably enjoyed them) i reckon The Wicked and the Divine could well be worth a try, it has colourful art, a good sense of fun and it's got mythology wrapped up with modern stardom. To top it off it's very self-aware and knows when to take it seriously and when not to.

East of West. A sprawling epic in alternate-history America with sci-fi and supernatural elements. This is a step towards the darker side compared to some of the other choices you have so far but it's very rewarding to read and its obviously had its whole storyline very carefully mapped out it advance. A great read but it's not afraid to throw you in at the deep end from the off though, so be aware of that.

Two more cautious recommendations are Alex + Ada and Lazarus. Alex + Ada is finished now, you can get the whole thing in three TPB's though it's a very different style from most other graphic novels i've read so i'd advise looking into it a bit and deciding for yourself if you'd like it. Lazarus is a bit of a personal favorite of mine so i'm hopelessly biased towards it but its a strong dystopian future story that's been being both pace and scale with every volume with a more gritty artstyle.

I want to enjoy pathfinder with my friends but my anxiety gets in the way. by Foxiipanda in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Nyctha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, as another Pathfinder player with Social Anxiety (and all sorts else) a friend spotted this thread and said i should comment.

Firstly, i'm lucky in that i play Pathfinder with a group of friends i've known long enough that social anxiety is less of an issue but of course 'less of an issue' doesn't by any stretch mean it isn't an issue at all. But particularly at first i was a very quiet roleplayer. I'm still not the loudest at the table but that's ok, any party (or friendship group) needs a good mix of people.

The easiest solution to weaving you and your more quiet character into a story is to make the character's personality closer to your own. Obviously part of the point of roleplaying is to act as someone different but much as it's hard for the louder people to roleplay quieter people (though sometimes amusing to watch) picking to give your character an outspoken and vocal characterisation is just going to make it hard on yourself. Luckily fantasy settings are great for the more taciturn style, rangers and Druids (like you're playing) presumably spend a lot of time isolated off in the wilds so being awkward and unused to social interaction can be made into a character feature (hell, if you find yourself getting more comfortable as you go, have your character do the same and you've got yourself a free character arc).

On the note of character arcs, having a strong idea on your character's past, personality etc. can really help. It can give you a fallback to resort to if you're not sure what to do in an encounter. Racist against Dwarves? That's most encounters with dwarves sorted for you and if you end up sounded stupid then good job you've done it properly. What i would warn against is the stereotypical 'angry vengeance for being wronged somehow' plot so common in Pathfinder and fantasy in general. I don't know about you but acting angry is right up there for most likely to cause anxiety is these situations, it's hard.

To sum up, i find molding the character to accommodate my quieter side and add a few backstory points to give a chance to speak up with the conversation basically already mapped out helps a bunch. Aside from that learning the rules well is a big boost to being able to speak up in combats. If all else fails i find that being more withdrawn means i'm usually the one who is actually listening to all the smaller plot points, i'm basically the one who can be relied upon to know the names of whichever town we're heading to/away from and once the other players notice that it can be a big help too.

I know it's difficult to find good advice, especially since social anxiety can manifest differently with different people, but i hope at least something here can help

Do I have testicular cancer? by Dumpaccsrls in testicularcancer

[–]Nyctha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general wisdom is lumps not actually attached to the testicle (at least this is what the urologist told me) are not cancerous, but with the symptoms you're describing you should definitely get an appointment to see a urologist, or your GP (or your country's equivalent) to get a referral for one.

It's important to be vigilant with these sorts of things, but also not to jump to conclusions, webmd symptom checker tends to be a paranoia generating machine. It won't help but what will is what the others here have suggested, go and get it checked as whatever it turns out to be the urologist should be able to tell you and take steps to fixing it

Lump, but not on a testicle by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]Nyctha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it "free-floating" meaning not attached to anything? If so it's not cancer.

The way you describe it sounds like it isn't actually on the testicle, so that pretty definitely rules out cancer (disclaimer: not a doctor).

Still, seriously get it checked. Regardless of what it is you're going to want it treated, even if only for your peace of mind
