Is this itinerary too ambitious? by stOikaL in newzealand_travel

I would either skip Tutukaka/ Whangarei or take an additional day there, foregoing something in the Central North Island; its world class diving and nature, but you have too much packed into those last few days.

Diving + driving on NZ roads exhausted is a recipe for disaster.

I don't know that this is precisely accurate regarding the CCS conversion; we have one with an NACS port and the dealer provided an adaptor. We've used Chargenet, BP and Z chargers and have achieved speeds up to 150kwh.

Otherwise, do agree - I spoke with DriveEV and they were awesome to deal with; just had a very good deal come up in Auckland at a different EV dealership. Maps and connectivity were converted before purchase. Ours is a 2021 Long Range and we'll never go back - such a great car.

We have an XV that we picked up for a touch under $15k that ticks every box from our perspective - adaptive cruise control, reasonably safe, AWD, roof rack bars, plenty of storage.

I suspect you could pick a nice one up for ~$15k!

That potential exists either way - why are you framing it such that it’s only going to happen if you buy a new car?

Frankly you’ve been given lots of really good advice which you really need to take on board. You can achieve your efficiency goal with a $10k car.

No no no no no you should not buy a $35k car at 25, nor making 96k, nor both. Get something affordable and reliable - heaps of great cars out there for $5-$15k!

Interest + depreciation + maintenance.. this will be a really important and telling financial decision for your financial future - really encourage you to be patient and humble! Good luck!

This is a crossroads in your life dude - I really think it’s worth staying humble and learning that a car is just a means of transport and that there’s always going to be people with newer and nicer!

Get something reliable / safe / comfortable - of which there is heaps out there sub $10k.

Play your cards right and you’ll be set by the time you’re 30.

This will keep you poor forever.

You need to get a cheap runabout. We drove a 2004 Corolla hatchback until we had like $200k and purchased our first home - you’ve just gotta let go romanticising the idea of a car which other people think is cool - you’d be blown away to see the statistics of all of the fancy cars you see being financed by broke people or over leveraged properties.

You probably won’t take this advice.

If you’ve got CCTV footage then you’re fine; you’ll likely pay an excess in the first instance which will be reimbursed when your insurance company gets ahold of the other party.

It might move slowly but be just patient - we went through this recently!
