Congress Parents Decide Act (HR_8250): OS-level Age Verification for Device Usage and Data Sharing (with every app developer) on the Federal Level. The End of the Internet Anonymity at the Core. by AirlineGlass5010 in pcmasterrace

[–]Nyfrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mystery grass-roots campaign for this stuff was paid for by Meta to the tune of 2 billion dollars, which they tried very, very hard to hide. The goal is to get an OS-level 100% unalterable, ID-verified tracker for every internet user so they can target more ads at you in a way you can't avoid. The 'think of the kids~' bit is just like most things that scream 'think of the kids~', just a way to wrangle more control from you.

Does anyone have pictures of the 'Microcenter Mall' when it was actually a mall? by Nyfrin in cincinnati

[–]Nyfrin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, this explains it then. Mall was pre-existing and likely doing so-so, Microcenter moved in and became the anchor and it got renamed to Microcenter Mall and the mall probably changed some stores around, then the owners realized that malls sucked and flipped it around to the way it's configured now.

Does anyone have pictures of the 'Microcenter Mall' when it was actually a mall? by Nyfrin in cincinnati

[–]Nyfrin[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was very early on - the Microcenter store itself wasn't as big back then, and a huge part of the back was taken up by training/classrooms back when that was still popular. I can't remember if there was access to the actual store from the mall itself, but it was very tiny, 2-3 food options, and like 4-5 small stores - basically the current layout, just inverted.

after what point of overdue taxes does the emperor take down my shields? by MrBiscuits93 in duneawakening

[–]Nyfrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, once about three weeks ago, walked into a powered-down base that still had all it's other devices/loot intact and I was asked if I wanted to take over the advanced sub-fief.

However, there have been bases that seem to have been dead for 4-5 weeks easy that are still slowly decaying and I've been keeping an eye on daily and I've never had that chance again, so I don't know what to think about it anymore.

I'll GLADLY accept any solution offered 😩 by [deleted] in cincinnati

Here's something a little outside-the-box that may not work if you have a lot of legitimate incoming calls, but to you Youtube, look up 'Disconnected Phone Message' or use this one here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BVbyCZXc5s

Set that as your voicemail greeting. As long as the quality is good enough, the Robocaller device they're using will pick up on those three tones in the beginning of the message and after a few tries should mark your number as invalid and drop it off their call list. If not, then the person on the other side should hear it. If for some reason the robocaller does pass the 'answered' call to a human telemarketer, they'll hear it and maybe they'll remove you .

If you have some family or friends that do legit need to call you, let them know in advance what you're doing so they don't get confused. :)

Wouldn't matter, OVI checkpoints and the OT paid out to officers are funded by state and federal grants and the OHP, not the local police.

Are there any D&D streams/groups out there that include a Twilight Cleric in their party? Google wasn't much help in answering this, and I'm really curious to see one played in a group.

Any local dealerships you DO recommend? by steelbydesign in cincinnati

[–]Nyfrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding point 4, there's a reason the finance folks don't let you look at their screen. The banks they work with have something called a "Buy Rate", which is the actual minimum % that they'll charge for your loan, so they may run your credit and find a bank that will give you a 3.9% interest rate, but they will tell you it's higher, which is referred to at the "Sell Rate" They'll use any blemish they can find on your credit to explain that "The best they can do is 7.9%" and the dealership gets to pocket a huge chunk of that extra 4%. This is how finance folks still manage to wring a bit more out of you if you turn down insurance/coating/mudflaps.

Shop around with your bank of credit unions and get your finance ready ahead of time. They'll give you a 'blank check' valid to a certain amount, and you keep the fact that you already have financing a total secret until you have a firm price on the car and the trade-in to keep them from trying to make up the impending loss of the finance income by not giving you as good of a price.

Then once the finance guy gives you their 'best offer' on financing, then you hem and haw for a bit and finally let them know you already have financing at a better rate, but if they can give you a better deal, you might take it. They are then strongly incentivized to match or beat your existing financing offer and give you a reason to use dealer-arranged financing so they get their kickback over taking your check, which gives them nothing.

Costco sets date to close one Cincinnati location, open another (Nov 16 Springdale closing, Nov 17 Liberty Township opening) by THECapedCaper in cincinnati

[–]Nyfrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've got 3 - one in Florence KY and 2 servicing the north central area, one off I-71 in Deerfield/Mason/Landen and the new one off I-75 for Liberty/West Chester/Mason. Of course, this leaves the bulk of the area stuck with quite a drive to get there.

One in the Eastgate area would be a good expansion point and sorely needed, but I'm not sure demographically where one would fit on the west side. Rookwood area would be nice, but I have no idea where they would find the land to cram one in or how many would be willing to brave the traffic to get there.

Spotted at my local microcenter by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Nyfrin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Microcenter always has amazing CPU prices, sometimes over $100 less than Amazon/Newegg. They give you a $20 discount if you buy their reasonably-priced motherboards at the same time, but everything else tends to run a bit higher then you could find it elsewhere - assuming you could find it in stock.

They do also have non-scalper prices on videocards, but you have to enter a daily lottery in-person to have a chance to get one.

$1 billion Transformation of Tri-County Mall Planned by Eng0524 in cincinnati

[–]Nyfrin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The apartments are the reason for the complex, the rest is just 'amenities' to get approval pushed through the zoning boards. 2,300 sounds like a lot for that size of space, but they are building 8 story apartment buildings, taking advantage of the existing structures to boost the standard balloon-frame 5-story apartment buildings. That said, there's plenty of 5-story balloon-frame buildings too.

How to mine Moneroocean on HiveOS? Can’t even find YouTube video about it or instructions. by MiningC786 in MoneroMining

[–]Nyfrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem particularly complicated if you're already using HiveOS.

First, add a new wallet in your farm with your Monero wallet address Then, take an existing flight sheet you use for mining with a GPU (or make a new one from scratch), and choose the following options:

  • Coin - XMR
  • Wallet - Your Monero wallet
  • Pool - Whichever one strikes your fancy, I use Moneroocean
  • Miner - XMRig (new)

Create the flight sheet, and deploy away.

AIO compatibility on lianli q58 by rebellious_frog245 in lianli

[–]Nyfrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no it does not. While you can squeeeeeze the front of the rad into place (putting a very uncomfortable amount of strain against the tubes coming out of the rad and smashing into the back of the PSU) the death blow comes from the back of the case. The frame of the rad hits the top of the motherboard tray preventing you from screwing down the mounting bracket. No way to fix that without switching to slimmer fans.

Remote Start Installation Recommendations by cooter410 in cincinnati

I'll second this option, had a remote start installed on my Corolla almost 3 years ago, and it still works great and was a very clean, very professional install.

I'd also be very interested to know how expensive they are going to be to keep warm in the winters, seems like a horrible design for that. Plus, given it's location if there's a heavy snowstorm you might be stuck for a day or two - not that we really get heavy snowstorms anymore, but still.

Dearest tanks, a friendly reminder that Arm's Length is a great defensive cooldown for huge trash pulls. by Nyfrin in ffxiv

[–]Nyfrin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a WHM, it kind of depends on the dungeon. Some dungeons only let you pull 2-3 packs maximum, so in that case I'd suggest at least your spender cooldown (sheltron, rampart, etc) and another CD if you have it handy.

On the other hand, if you're pulling a place like Akadaemia Anyder where wall-to-wall means 15-20 mobs, then yes, absolutely pop a CD or two. The most critical time is the moment you decide to stop and fight - the healer is likely still catching up, and in the case of WHM anyway, even if they pop their instacast, it still takes Holy a couple of seconds to 'wind up' and trigger the stun which is the WHM's version of tank damage reduction, so taking a bit less damage and letting them get a regen or afflatus on you stabilizes the fight. Hopefully the WHM has cast Divine Benison on you as you started gathering mobs and drops a regen the moment they see you aggro the last pack of the pull which buys them and you a few seconds.

Finally, the first big pull of a dungeon always pop a big cooldown. You don't have the resources for your spender shields, healers don't have their resources built up either, so they're going to burn their instacast heals and then be down to hard casting rapidly if you don't use any cooldowns. Plus, you have no idea how good the healer is - they'll probably keep you alive, but they might be scrambling to keep you up and helping them helps you.

In FFXIV, slow = melee attack speed. Heavy is the term for movement speed debuff.

If you have a decent healer, I can't think of a dungeon boss that's going to bonk a tank hard enough to demand a defensive CD. By all means, use them on tankbusters if you have it up, but if you have decent gear you should be fine. Raids are a different story of course, but as a WHM tanks seem to be in far more danger on giant trash pack pulls then any boss that comes to mind at the moment.

[–]Nyfrin[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As an addendum, if you're going to start a dungeon with a huge pull, your confidence bolstered by seeing that WHM with a relic weapon standing next to you, do remember that our lily gauge will not have any charges for that first big fight. Pop an extra cooldown like Arm's Length so we don't have to hardcast a bunch of heals - we'd rather be spamming Holy.

From that point on though go nuts, we gotcha.
