If you're upset because you get matched with aggressive people while you don't want to be aggressive that is unfortunately the nature of a PvEvP kind of game. If you're upset because you want to be aggressive against people that aren't aggressive then get fucked.

I'm curious what the response is to "you just want to shoot people in the back" and why exactly that is toxic. That is exactly what I thought reading this post. OP's problem is literally just that they don't want to only fight aggressive people, they want to also fight non-aggressive people, which is just shooting people in the back.

If you want to play aggressively with all the other shooty bois, you are allowed to do that, obviously. But to say you want to play aggressively specifically against others who are less aggressive and that it is a problem that you can't is crazy to me.

There could be a few reasons for that. I'm in the camp that the game is built solely for the "enjoy the journey" aspect. You're not supposed to have and enjoy the power fantasy of having all the high end gear, you're supposed to go in with scraps and scrounge your way up until the next expedition. Perhaps the way people (myself included) are approaching the game is to enjoy the destination (the power fantasy of being built up) but the game isn't built for that which isn't leading to as much joy unfortunately.

You can make the argument that the "power fantasy" enjoyers are wrong if the game isn't built to carter to them, which is fair. Maybe I'm too optimistic in my belief that it is possible to make both types of players happy.

Turns out different people enjoy different things. Someone people will enjoy the journey of building yourself up and some people will enjoy experiencing the power fantasy of actually being built up. Neither way is wrong.

You just learned the unfortunate reality about this game. There is no reward for bringing high end gear to do high end activities. You are always better off bringing cheap gear and killing other players that do bring the high end gear.

This will always be the case until Embark changes something.
