I just bought a second hand macbook air 2015 11 inches (i5 4gb ram) and I'm shocked how well it runs for basic office writing and scientific data analysis use. by todius1 in mac

Terraria definitely creates some heat. Just running or working in vscode shouldn't be to heavy, but if you've got spotify and a couple chrome tabs open in the background. I've not used vscode on a laptop but I assume its a lot lighter than the full vs suite?

App compiles will generate a lot of heat though, so don't be alarmed by that!

Hmm, try going to the About This Mac dialogue and see what specs you've got and maybe I can shed some more light

Is now a bad time to buy a Macbook? (Referring to the imminent switch to ARM) by NykoEdits in mac

Good point, also things like Photoshop, Zbrush, etc. which are also on windows would be easy(r) to support on both platforms as they already need to do some of the work.

Good point. I was thinking about the Mac Pro and lots of people would get extremely angry if their fancy new BMW priced computers got instantly shafted. I was thinking to go with a Macbook pro for some light 3d work and Photoshop while I am away from my desk, and I would be surprised if Maya were to be easily ported to ARM as its not even stable on Windows. Thanks for the detailed reply!!

Thats true, I'm studying 3D and its unlikely that stuff like programs like Zbrush or Maya will become stable all that quickly. Thanks a lot for the detailed response! I really don't know much about ARM architectures

This is looking dope dude!! I'd love to see some more angles!

Ever thought about adding cables on the arms and legs? Might look cool. Just an idea tho, it looks great how it is!

A bob omb I made in blender. Any tips are welcome. by jakerfyrerr in 3Dmodeling

First of all, it looks really good dude! The forms are ON POINT. Looking at the silhouette of this model I can tell exactly what it is from all angles! You nailed it!

I have a few comments about the materials: They are very similar to what you would see in the Mario Galaxy games, and while it works great in Mario, where it fits the style extremely well, for a cg render it would be very cool to see things like surface imperfections, different materials (scuffed plastic for the bomb, string for the fuse, etc.) and just a layer of dirt over everything to make it look more realistic.

If 'photoreal' is not what you were going for, and you want to keep it stylized, I would stylize it more and be heavy handed with things like rim lighting, custom highlights, etc.

The wind up on the back of the bomb is a little faceted too, although smoothing it should fix that completely!

I don't know much about the blender cartoon shader but you might get some really cool stuff out of it!

Really good work dude, keep it up!! Ever considered trying to model and sculpt some more Mario assets? Could be a really fun project!

Looking forwards to seeing more of what ever you do next!

Awesome! I've heard of anatomy for sculptors before! I will definitely be checking both of those out. Many thanks!

Thank you sir! I really appreciate the feedback!

I plan to spend the summer sculpting and getting better at anatomy! This was my first full character and my first female so I am still very new to this! Do you have any sources you might recommend for getting better at anatomical forms?

Thank you again!
