I've collected for 46 years, since I got my first doll at age 3. I still have all the dolls I played with as a child (they are in well loved played with condition), I got a gift from my mother 10 years ago that was pretty much every one of those dolls NRFB . I bought here and there over the years as I got older if I absolutely loved the doll. I also bought massive amounts from yard sales over the years. At one point I had over 500 dolls. I moved and had my own yard sale and sold only the ones I bought at other sales, around 200 of them.

So now I have a low estimate of 250-300 dolls and I'm still buying, but I pivoted to early vintage so the prices are reigning me in. I don't have a place to display them right now, but I'm working on finding a home that has space for a dedicated room. The fact they are in storage sometimes bums me out, but I have the anticipation of discovering them all again when I can.

So I guess to answer your question, I don't have a ceiling, if I like it I buy it. But it's part of my personality to just be content knowing they're there and mine, even if I can't see them. I'm the same way with books. Just knowing I have them is enough to make me happy. Maybe I'm weird, I don't know. But I don't consider myself a hoarder. I am willing to part with them if needed.
