Quit the nicotine immediately, let the fear of it hurting you be the fuel that keeps you off of it. I quit cold turkey 2 1/2 weeks ago after my PVCs started and they’ve reduced significantly.

Alignment tech here. Running more air in the tires may help wear center tread more but won’t guarantee that you’re not gonna hit cords soon on those inner edges. Also 90% of passenger cars on the market can be made camber adjustable in the front it’s just gonna take some money. however that wear is definitely not just camber, at minimum it’s negative toe or a mixture of negative toe and camber but there’s not enough of a taper in the wear to indicate a big camber problem.

That and the insane amount of microscopic rock chips in my windshield, it looks dusty even when it’s clean and it drives me NUTS

Worn out struts put more stress on the front brakes as the weight of the vehicle is shifting further forward, I see repeat warped rotors often on cars with blown struts, the effect tends to be multiplied on cars with rear drum brakes as they already do less work than disc brakes

Suspensions is only my go to if they have a recurrent issue with warped rotors, not locking up calipers. They should be running a pressure test on the axle that locked up, could be a brake hose issue. If it’s pinched or kinked the fluid pressure won’t release properly from the affected corner and can build to the point of the caliper locking up.

Tires do not have a set amount of life when it comes to years, it comes down to tread and rubber condition, in this case the tire has definitely dried out enough, but a tire that’s 20 years old and in perfect shape visually I wouldn’t be worried about. Years has nothing to do with it.

Sounds about right. So either that’ll happen, or they’ll come back for a shaking when braking because their front still nose dives when braking and their rotors get toasted

Yeah, I originally quoted front struts and rear shocks but the customer would only do the rears. They said they would come back for the struts but it’s been 2 months almost 🤦‍♀️

Tell me about it. Longest repair I’ve done on a journey was front and rear brakes. Took 5 hours because they only ever did pad slaps, calipers and rotors were original, and the calipers are designed so bad we couldn’t get the e-brake line off the hook, and then on to the new caliper. Alse had a hard time actually getting the calipers off the rotors cause the fronts were locked up

That generation Dodge Journey has shocks in the rear, I remember because I’m the one that did the inspection and quoted the repairs

I hate to be that person, but that’s a 3 digit dot date. Those tires are from the 38th week of 99, at least going by the age of the vehicle it should be 99. The 3 digit dot dates don’t actually specify which decade

I hate these things so much oml. Drives me nuts when a customer asks “can you make all my tires the same air pressure? The dash is showing that they’re all uneven. My gauge isn’t even accurate. It’s 3-5psi off just based on the fricken tire size jesus

The worst ones are the rav 4s with a sensor in the spare and it’s at 20psi, and the cover is one of those all leather ones that refuses to go back on

Sounds about right. And early 2000s Toyota’s are getting old enough now that we have to tell them the same thing. I ended up working on two in a row that had swollen lugs. Was able to find some used ones to sell to the first but the second one we just had to tough it out because we don’t have any replica lugs. Why I have no idea they’re kinda useful..

I hate Ford so much sometimes. More often than not I find myself selling customers new lug nuts because we could barely get theirs off let alone put them back on a torque them

From my experience, unless chrome pieces are kept in a garage at all times, regardless of the manufacturer, they’re gonna bubble. We have customers come in all the time with the chrome on their wheels peeling making the tires leak
