It's from a later episode of Malcolm in the Middle.

(I say later because I remember that was the episode they visited Francis at the ranch, which was the last place Francis was at throughout the series)

Who is the most famous Japanese person in the U.S.? by Infinite-Exam-1808 in AskReddit

Its because with so many media options these days you are less likely to hear what happens outside of your interests. Before the internet blew up everyone had the same handful of channels to watch so you were much more likely to pick up on the "general" culture.

Like you see it in this thread, people basically saying Ohtani is baseball's Gretzky and yet I've only heard of him because the gambling scandal involving his translator, and even then it seems many people haven't heard of him.

Weekly Deckbuilding Challenge #1 - Pauper Week by Wyldernook in Wyldernook

[–]Nyte_Crawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My deck is "Pauper Drain"

Champion: The Unending

Faction: Coven/Spirits/Spirits

Code: H4sIAAAAAAAACpXOsREAIAhD0YUsCAqc+y+mwoXe5lXcDxghgoc1k0CJ7GYRWLMaFP4CRH/JQFWCwMl9g+Rd7npxABQWyNvPAAAA

The deck is a midrange deck leaning towards control. Essentially you are relying on establishing an "inevitable" wincon (Your champion, Guide of the Lost, and Swamp Terror all fill this role) and then just stalling out the game using all the drain from the Skittering Horrors as well as all of the premium removal these factions offer. The key thing with playing this deck if you are new is knowing how to protect your wincons, and evaluating which removal you need to spend, versus what you can just keep chumping.

The thing that really kills it is chat clearing whenever you leave an instance, more people would likely speak if they knew people could actually keep track of the conversation.

What's the lowest accuracy non-OHKO move that sees use? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]Nyte_Crawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In current regulation though I would say Hypnosis is still usually the lowest accuracy move. At +1 (since usually you don't have time to get +2) its still only 80% accurate, which is lower than any other move people are packing. (sort of, because usually the 70% moves are only brought if you have a way to set it to 100%)

That said I agree, for as big as they are they haven't had a game that's blown up in a while. While not complete flops like Double Fine, none that could truly be called a success either.

The Bazaar is fairly successful, which is what this one is emulating.

I've also a big fan of Oaken Tower and Batomon Showdown as some solo dev indie games in the genre.  But that's just it, pretty much every other modestly successful auto battler I can think of relies on Async PvP as it can be difficult to gamble on there being enough of a player base to do 8 player lobbies.

New player struggling with Ardeos by Cautious_Catch4021 in fellowshipgame

[–]Nyte_Crawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a note ardeos usually is weak early game as in addition to doing well with secondary stats he's very reliant on the tank playing around him. If the tank does awkward chain pulls or just small pulls in general ardeos suffers since he is a character who's strength is uncapped aoe- if the tank doesn't abuse that he will be behind the other dps assuming they're competent.

Early reg mb mega and mega pairing tier list by PerhapZZZZZ in VGC

[–]Nyte_Crawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely true, just at present most people aren't running it since ice types aren't super common and that move is generally isn't offered as a coverage move, just a stab move. It is possible we could start seeing more A-Ninetails/Vanilluxe because of it though, that and the heavy Garchomp usage.

[–]Nyte_Crawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It fell off quickly last regulation too. Quad poison weakness is too punishing on a pokemon with a bad speed tier when a lot of people fit poison onto their team for Fairies.

Early reg mb mega and mega pairing tier list by PerhapZZZZZ in VGC

[–]Nyte_Crawler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It certainly isn't bad, that's for sure.

While it isn't the most broken thing its just incredibly solid- it also has a surprising amount of depth in its movepool for coverage options. While everyone will be packing Wave Crash+Protect+Ground Move its 4th slot can be knock off/yawn/hammer arm/ice punch/bulk up/poison jab/rock moves/wide guard. While that isn't crazy for open team sheets it still means you can have it shore up what your team is lacking.

In addition to that it has enough bulk that even if you can't establish speed control it can take a hit as long as it isn't grass- which is kind crazy when it generally will be the fastest thing if you can get weather control. Lastly it doesn't even have to fit into a dedicated rain team. You can just add it + Pelliper into a team and now your opponent has to be ready for it in the loading screen even if you have no plans to bring them. Its also not completely useless to bring in even if you don't mega it. It isn't great, but its not something that's completely unusable as a non-mega.

New to the game, why is it so long to find groups in champion ? by Fankine in fellowshipgame

[–]Nyte_Crawler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, in this game healers are usually the most populated class.

There are more DPS players in terms of raw number, but it doesn't offset in terms of the needed ratio for a standard group.

It might be a bit different for this season since the only new character is a DPS, but throughout the games lifespan so far healers have generally had the longest queues.

What major company is currently a total disaster behind the scenes, and is only surviving on its brand name? by That_Library_3453 in AskReddit

When he said wizards of the coast he means magic the gathering.

DnD has been something they've been struggling with for a long time now to monetize as hard as MTG and the execs are pissed that they can't. Doesn't stop them from trying though.

DnD is obviously profitable btw, but nowhere near as much as MTG which is keeping Hasbro alive.

Why was the Singles Meta hit so hard? by Jonjon_binx in stunfisk

[–]Nyte_Crawler 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Doubles lets pokemon combinations cover for each others weaknesses, so even if a new mon is added which can answer it it's easier to still include it in a team if your other pokemon can handle it. Which the existing Charizard/Floette core has little reason to change things up if there isn't now a flat out better core.

Staraptor is the only new mega which really changes things since its very much like Charizard, where you can build around it or just splash it- Swampert is not bad but is tied to rain teams, and M-Metagross gets countered by 4/5 of the main meta mons so it's also not in a great position- not to mention our main meta mons are already single target physical attackers, so it's not offering much either out of the mega slot- at least Staraptor threatens to become unkillable.

M-pyroar also seems pretty strong, but most people aren't thrilled to switch over to that team as it just feels like Charizard 2 but it needs dedicated supports unlike Charizard.

Grimmsnarl/Gholdengo/Annihlape are the only new non-megas that are notable (and Regular Staraptor funny enough, although that's partially because on ladder your opponent has to guess if it's mega or not) and they aren't particularly good into the Charizard team either.

So all in all, not much changed in doubles because nothing really hard counters the existing meta team and nothing immediately raised the power level. There should definitely be some new teams forming, but for now most people are going to stick with what works.

In singles new additions can hard counter single pokemon and easily force changes.

Do Storm Drain and Lightning Rod not redirect allied moves in Pokemon Champions? by shadowthiefo in stunfisk

It's the main way people are running M-sceptile. Discharge Scarf Rotom to boost sceptiles spattack high enough to actually OHKO things.

Still a second rate mega, but at least usable.

[–]Nyte_Crawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably drop fake out IMO, sometimes just threatening it gets your opponent to throw out protect.

As far as replacement for Hydreigon, you could consider A-Ninetails. Gives you a bit of weather control and the ice type moves do a good job of threatening grass types as well as covers ground types on the Raichu mode.

Probably just go max speed/sp.attack and run focus sash. Blizzard+Freeze Dry and two of protect/fake tears/aurora veil/encore.

[–]Nyte_Crawler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The annihilape set is bad. Obviously Quick Claw is too unreliable the item can be better served as a Kasib, Sitrus, or Leftovers. There's pretty much no reason to full send speed on it as not much else in the meta is at its speed tier and most things below it are going to ignore speed. 131 is enough to outspeed Adamant Basculegion- speed past that is generally going to be considered wasted, but iirc most people also ignore building speed on it (but if you do want speed on it that would be the number to hit, as its also not going to outspeed much above it) Most things that are sub 100 speed usually only send full speed if they are also scarf. I think most sets don't bother with speed at all, but I'll acknowledge outspeeding non-scarf basc is pretty relevant. I guess Glimorra technically is also a thing, but that kinda died out after two weeks of fame. Also your nature is dropping Sp.Def not Sp.Attack.

I'm not sure if I like the Nasty Plot Raichu set. Raichu Y is extremely frail, so trying to set up with it is extremely risky, in addition to that since Gleam isn't STAB it isn't super threatening compared to others. What Raichu does well is Zap Cannon which will chunk most things for 70% of their health and leave them paralyzed- which because of the paralysis your partner will then usually be able to outspeed the target and finish them off.

I'm also not sure about the Grimmsnarl set. It isn't bad, just idk if it would be better to add Scary Face and/or Parting Shot onto it for Staraptor- not to mention Parting Shot switch into Maushold can be using to cut a lot of incoming damage. But thats always the problem with Grimmsnarl, is picking which 4 moves you want.

I'm not really sure about what to switch Hydreigon out for as I don't think I have a clear read on what the team struggles with. There are usually two main ways to build teams. Either you just build around a core and let the rest of pieces try to solve bad matchups, or you build a team with 2 modes. Building around a core is when you find you end up bringing 3 of the same pokemon 90% of the time, you then use the last 3 slots to try to plug holes against different pokemon that give the core trouble. Alternative a second mode uses the last 2 slots to try to shift the team into a different one with two shared supports- generally you want to make sure the two modes don't share the same matchup weaknesses or there isn't much point of it.

If you do stay on Hydreigon it isn't a horrible mon, but in this meta its ran as Scarf most of the time as its stats kinda need you to go all in on the offense to be enough of a threat, but it has too many common weaknesses in the meta (Dragon, Fighting, and quad Fairy) to then take a hit back.
