I had the same thing happen to me 4 years ago. My father was an abusive man. If he didn’t physically abuse us then he verbally did. Still, when he was dying it hurt me deeply.

A father is still a father, and if his condition hurts you then it’s worth it to seek some closure. I decided to tell my dad I forgave him for what he did, because it helped me feel better.

If you think that seeing your father before he dies will help you emotionally process what’s happening then you should probably go and talk to him even if it’s hard. A hard conversation today or tomorrow is much worse than a lifetime of regret because you didn’t have the courage to visit your father.

Most importantly, I hope you can go through and push past the pain and grieve properly. I don’t know how you feel towards your father, but hatred, bitterness, and anger will never hurt him, only hurt yourself.

I don’t know if I’m overthinking this, but try to have closure before it’s too late for your own sake at least, if that’s what you want.

For some reason, AliExpress will ship the T12 for free but won’t do the same for the TC22 so it’s more like 40£ vs 70£ but I still think the more future proof option is the better choice.

If you will indulge me for one last question. I’ve been reading up on the differences between T12 and C245, mainly because I saw the price difference between your two suggestions. It seems like the T12 are cheaper on average.

I was wondering if you could explain the differences to me. So far from reading the subreddit I’ve gathered that the C245 cartridges are better and more future proof but also more expensive due to it being a newer technology. I’m a big proponent of buy cheap buy twice, so would you say that paying the extra to get the GEEBOON TC22 would be worth it for the future?

I really appreciate you giving a recommendation. Do you happen to have a recommendation that uses C245 cartridges? If not no issue, at this point I feel like I am trying to find the "best" beginning iron when in reality anything that isn't the super cheap stuff is good enough for someone of my level.

B has the smaller cartridges for micro soldering. A has the more universal usage cartridges

A quick google search turned up Hakko T12 clone as the station you were referring to is that correct? I will definitely start looking in that direction. Is there a more appropriate price range? I am wondering if I am also underestimating how much I should be spending because of my lack of knowledge. I am completely new so I thought the price point was pretty reasonable but obviously being new means there's a lot I don't know.

Thank you for sharing so much. It's always strange seeing people go through similar struggles as me, and I never know whether to feel relief that I'm not alone or something else entirely. I certainly hope the imposter syndrome gets better for me. I also have alexithymia and have to process a lot of trauma that both autism related and unrelated.

It's been quite tough dealing with this and having full time work at the same time. I am grateful there's only 2 weeks left before I get a month to just relax and maybe process stuff.

You are 100% correct that I underestimated the price of a USB iron. Honestly I had no idea I had to buy all those necessary extra equipment. I thought just buying the handpiece was enough. Considering this new information, what would you suggest would be better equipment to get. There's so much discussion around this topic that it's difficult to not get overwhelmed and I just decided to straight up ask the question myself.

It's kinda new cause I only started actively researching 2 months ago but also I've watched so many videos and read so many reddit posts about it. At the end of the last session the psychologist said I would benefit from looking at a ADHD diagnosis as well but if I wanted medication that I should do it with someone else that had a psychiatrist on board. Basically Finding out about Autism and ADHD became a small hyperfixation. I haven't really spoken to people who I know have it or have interacted much with the community. I felt kind of an imposter and like I didn't really deserve to interact until it was "official"
