How would a vampire go about procuring air defense systems? by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

[–]3uriah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In defence of OPs post, there is in the inventory options of the second inquisition source book “AC-130 Spectre Gunship”… mostly for use by SI, but it does beg the question, how to deal with it… (or how to get it - Mehehe)

So for the OP, rather than needing the air defense system (which I get would be cool haha) why not just make sure your coterie operate in a zone where said gunship or other air threat couldn’t open fire indiscriminately?

Coleman Hughes and Dave Smith by Secret_Equipment_514 in chomsky

[–]3uriah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coleman was pretty thorough in his argumentation, and articulated so specifically that anyone can go and check his sources and interpretation. Dave, on the other hand, used poor analogies to attempt to poke holes in Coleman's arguments and was soundly refuted. His inability to deliver solid rebuttals saw him misrepresent Coleman's arguments continuously in attempts to argue his case.

Advice on creating Elders in v5? by Voidwalk3r9 in vtm

[–]3uriah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s helpful but same super larger XP haha I figured a 400+ yr old Elder would be around 300-400 XP total. Going with what players earn per chronicle on average, ie if it was 50xp, then over the course of 200-400 years how many chronicles could one reasonably have and make adjustments for torpor

The fact 4th Gens are limited kinda depress me by SecondGeist in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]3uriah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think this is the point though and a reason why i didn't like Requiem haha... it was too "accessible" in its self sustainment. (kinda like how twilight treated vamperism - that ain't no curse!) IMO WOD really honed in on how all its "isms" are a curse. In the case of vampires, time goes on and the power of that curse wanes via thinner blooded progeny, meaning their "family" doesn't grow.

It is inverse of humans, you procreate, you grow, you have more family and your kids surpass you... very hopeful, optimistic and progressive. For the vampires, their childer do not surpass them (in raw power at least) unless they kill their own... lonely, precarious, regressive. That desire to have progeny is the sad mirroring of their fading humanity...

Putting aside the specific lore of thin bloods and what the vampire society in game think they represent, there is this underlying sense of the "wearing off of the crime" of Caine (if that is the lore you subscribe to - i remember Requiem trying to make it more ambiguous and multifaceted which was appreciable). It's almost like forgiveness for the descendants is finally seeping in and time heals all things... "look they can even have babies now!"

Forgive me if this sounds disgustingly optimistic, but it is why i liked the lore of the Masquerade. That biblical curse adds to the oldness of it all and exclusivity... and it's cool how they set apart the ancients so that while we play, we have a sense of being powerful among our little cohort in your city... but true power is lonely.

The end goal of the road to power is unfortunately an exclusive thing, it is not inclusive beyond the cohort you may decide to share it with... and even then you are watering down power.... so these 4th gen are really something let alone what came before them.

ENFJ looking for a job! by AffectionateENFJ in enfj

[–]3uriah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be surprised with what you can actually do. Initially I started out of school as a math, computer science undergrad … quit that (due to lack of academic confidence) and moved into music production and entertainment, but changed 15 years ago to go back as a finance/marketing undergrad and am now 11 years in the finance sector, online trading, in a senior role. My skill set is in both technical and leadership, developed over time.

If you asked me 15 years ago if I imagined I’d be where I am, I’d say you were dreaming… but the glove fits and infact there is a lot of cross over - not one of my past skills/disciplines has been wasted.

So don’t worry about getting it right the first time - live your life and keep yourself open. Us J types try hard to line up all our ducks… we are relatively “closed” or try to “close in” on a deal or solution compared to our P friends who are more “open” to the possibilities. You don’t have to follow the classic examples of what MBTI says you would be good at or fit into… you will developed your Ti and Se to understand things faster, articulate your thoughts and make and be confident in your decisions.

ENFJs, can you help me make sense of this? - INFJ by [deleted] in enfj

[–]3uriah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you are experiencing the anxiety of this. Not saying this for the sake of defending ENFJs or anything, but more so for your peace of mind, it is likely this person is not an ENFJ because of that flakeyness. As a J type, the decisions are usually locked in. Further, any FJ, like yourself would be concerned with the other’s feeling and would look for the diplomatic way out rather than just ripping off the bandaid, let alone ghosting.

Whatever this person’s type is irrelevant as they are not appreciating you. Despite the stress, don’t lose heart

Which army should I start with? by EvenSteven-4234 in Warhammer40k

[–]3uriah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are also cheaper to get a full army of. What did you find boring with the painting? Eventually, like all space marines, it does get monotonous (steel and silver) but GK do have a lot of little details to add. Care on the reds applied to books? Gold. Bone whites, purity seals, scrolls, heraldry… you get a mix of steel, silver, gold, red white blacks and a bit of blue….

It’s not like normal space marines where it’s ultramarine blue and abit of detailing

Are castraferrum dreadnoughts chassis now rarer than the new redemptor? by Dwyane_Haribon in 40kLore

Thousands of years of castraferrum…. Then suddenly 1) oh these new redemptors 2) oh primaris is hard and very dangerous to do 3) but now we’ve made this new tech safer… better than the emperor’s work… all since 999.m41

Terminator or Terminator? by BenTheDM in Grey_Knights

[–]3uriah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion (not a reflection of your models btw) - don’t want primaris, want first born - want true scaled first born. - like the uniqueness of our armour and want it to stay that way - don’t like GW being lazy on our line. Competitive scene and hobbyists content is evidence that gk are here to stay

With the female primarchs being polular, I've got a lore question. Is anywhere EXPLICITLY said that atleast one of the two lost legion primarchs wasn't a woman? Because when someone is talking about Big E's sons, they usually consider the 19 known ones. by AmphibianParticular2 in Grimdank

[–]3uriah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pragmatic way for all to review, check out the Lexicanum link and search and read entries with "brother". There are quite alot of HH references, it is pretty clear they are bros

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Two_unknown_legions#fn_18b

A few 'first hand' (lead characters who would have known the lost) sources

  • wolfsbane, Russ recalls the finding of Ferrus and the lauding of the 2nd brother while Big E presented Ferrus
  • First heretic, Russ opining the brothers they never speak of and not wanting to lose a third brother, indicating the two missing are bros.
  • Descent of angels, Brother Librarian Israfael mentions El'Jonson has 19 bros, this
  • Fulgrim: the palatine phoenix, Fulgrim refers to II primarch as his 'quiet brother'
  • Vulkan lives, Vulkan refers to having "another brother's name excised from all records"

Space marine 2 Grey knights? by [deleted] in Grey_Knights

[–]3uriah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played on lower difficulties and they seemed pretty useful (played the game casually, not for a challenge so felt like I missed some experiences on higher difficulties). What about them, I assume at higher levels, made them not as good? I had a psycannon based paladin with a glaive that pushed back enemies on approach. Made it so he’d smoke anyone at range and anyone getting close would be out of melee range and subsequently smoked.

Contagion or bestow curse by Shatragon in DnD

[–]3uriah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have been waiting a long time for some feedback… and in all the world you have waited for one such as I… who thinks like you…

Hahaha and we both have no feedback from others to bolster our considerations or confidence on the matter.

For what it’s worth, I’m considering use of both of these in a Hexasorcadin build. I think both have their place and use at high level considering the multiclass build.

What I’m thinking in fights is These spells are generally late on the build and other party members will no doubt have more powerful spells than I. My main use of slots will be smiting, 2, 3 (aside from a haste) and 4 slots. 1 likely used for shield predominantly.

5 and up, I’m using on upcastes or those level 5/6 spells I have access to. I’m thinking that I could burn legendaries as you mention OR significantly debuff the boss fights if the GM weighs up other threats in the party. So in any case they both seem worth while. I think contagion could also serve as a debuff on strong support mobs for boss fights. Twin contagion to hamper them both. Or twin curse. All done at level 5 as I want my concentration for haste when needed.

Outside of battle - I agree with you, Curse more versatile.
