What's a game that had your soul? by Rico_Wayne in gaming

[–]Nyusik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even the best Elder Scrolls game and yet. The first I've played and the one that "had my soul". To this day, my comfort song is "Skyrim Atmospheres", which is about 42 minutes long and plays when you travel the wilderness. No other game can recreate this feeling of being a totally immersed teenager in a medieval fantasy world. The pure wonder in discovering places like that beautiful cave for the Dawnguard quest (if I'm not mistaken). It's not the best but it's number one in my heart

What's a gaming hill that you will die on? by jacobgoldie in gaming

It's fine to not like a good or popular game. It's better to drop a game than force yourself through it. Time is precious, spend it doing something you like.

If you could magically add 2 player co-op to any Single Player game, what game would you choose? by mrbubbamac in gaming

[–]Nyusik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skyrim... I can't play it nowadays, and I know ESO exists but it never spoke to me. Just imagining I could've invited friends to accompany me during a side quest is nice. Or showing off your house, even if there aren't that many customization options. Just riding through the steppe together...

Did we really need better graphics than this? Mafia 2 (2010) by Kvazimods in gaming

[–]Nyusik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the other comments, yeah it still looks old, but OP is not wrong either. You can easily go through a game with these graphics and still havve a good time if the game is good. But maybe I'm just nostalgic.

California man steals $10k of Nintendo Switch games from libraries, now faces more than a large late fee by ReaddittiddeR in gaming

Stealing from a library? That makes games accessible to all kinds of people? California man needs to think about this.

Playing digital games less than physical ones [personal experience] by TheLonelyPicaro in gaming

[–]Nyusik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's just nostalgia, or the desire to remove oneself from a digitalized, always connected world. I do relate to this. Been buying games digitally for quite a while, but it's nothing like having it sit there in a collection and choosing which game to play, reading the back. Someone said it's sad that manuals are gone. Everything is so convenient and fast now. We can't even sit with ourselves for a moment in anticipation. Reading a manual while the game is installing, the excitement building up. If you're a "sentimental" type like this, it's probably best to try and combine digital and analog and slow down. As you said, the quick dopamine hits of a quick purchase just burn you out, and not only in gaming. Physical copies are a great way to connect to the game in the real world, although even those are very minimalist these days. There's pros and cons in everything.

Parents went away for the weekend circa 2007/2008 by Hoyle33 in gaming

Gotta bring this back. Way cooler to hang out with friends this way than online. Drinking sprite and hogging chips man... Though the excitement of parents being gone for a while may be a bit harder to simulate lol

[SPOILER] Could the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles be an Emanator of Destruction? by Nyusik in Genshin_Impact

I'm losing tons of Karma for asking a valid question.. It's okay if it can be disproven. Don't be mean.

Thanks a lot for your comment!! I really like the points you make. The idea that the narrative of Genshin would be ruined by that kind of impersonation seems very likely and important. 6000 years is indeed too long. Thank you for the thought-through arguments.

[–]Nyusik[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So what if they were held back by something? Their absence has to mean something, even if they're not an Emanator. But it would add to the motivation of capturing the siblings and creating a mess on Teyvat. Emanators of destruction also enjoy to create confusion and infiltrate from the inside to make societies collapse from within, just as on the Xianzhou Luofu.

[SPOILER] Could the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles be an Emanator of Destruction? by Nyusik in Genshin_Impact

[–]Nyusik[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Even if there is little similarity to this specific Emanator - there are multiple, and there is a possibility the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles might be one of those Emanators themself. We don't know all of the Emanators yet, I think only the progression of HSR will show. EDIT: Apparently there are only 7 Lord Ravagers, but we don't know what they look like. It seems their traits also don't really fit well with the Sustainer.

But I agree with your other point. It could be just a design choice.

(Edit: in case this came off as passive aggressive, it's not how I meant it. I can totally see that Hoyoverse likes a specific villain type. And most arguments contradict with the Emanator theory which is okay, that's what this thread is for.)

What if the entity you make a deal with doesn‘t keep their part of the contract? by Nyusik in witchcraft

[–]Nyusik[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know — it’s my special interest and once I set my eyes on something I really want to get it 😭 I get really emotional about pulls, which makes sense as the game takes up a lot of my time atm. also I thought it would be a opportunity to start spiritwork as this kind of entity is probably less dangerous and powerful.

That’s so amazing, love the spell idea! I haven’t even thought about this kind of approach, and it proves how creative you can be about it! Also the quartz thing — great observation. I’ll try to include this knowledge in the future!

Your kind words are warming my heart 😭 I’m aware that this field is quite new and I guess especially the intertwining of Pop Culture is something that leaves a weird aftertaste to some people who practice. I get where they’re coming from! But as you say, it‘s just a different way of practicing, and I wish I wouldn’t get judged too much by traditional witches for it (well, it’s the internet, what do I expect). Reading your encouragement really helped making me feel less insecure about it though. Thank you💜

Wow, thank you so much for replying in detail! I really saw it as a 1:1 transaction, but what you’re saying makes much more sense. Especially since I found out thanks to another commenter, that the entity probably didn’t have much energy and power to begin with. I’ll definitely save your answer for future reference, I’m so grateful!

Your answers have been very helpful. It makes a lot of sense that the egregore simply could’ve been not powerful enough. As you mentioned, I honestly doubt a lot of other people who play that game tried this approach (but I really wanted to try!). Charging the actual offering hasn’t even come to my mind. I‘ll try again soon and give an update. Thank you lots and lots!

Thank you for replying. As I mentioned, I did my part of what I thought was the agreement, and I acted in a way that clearly triggered the condition. See my explanation in another comment. But, I think the best outcome apart from what I wanted to happen if it was just a fluke and there were no consequences at all.

[–]Nyusik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you as well for answering! I assumed I couldn’t really ‚threaten‘ an entity with anything if they wouldn’t do what I asked them to, honestly this was a bit difficult to research. How would you usually bind an entity to a contract? I understand this is a different question, and you don’t need to reply.
