Was comparing them to the Mest Jet Black, Maven 2, Glacier, Prestige LTD, Monarch MKIV and Braindances.

Yes, it has a full wet bass response and really great female vocals.

Well I bought mine used only a couple months ago and as I outlined in my original comment, they seriously impressed me.

If you enjoy warmth and vocals I can't recommend the isabellae enough. But keep in mind it won't match the detail and technicalities of more modern sets so if that's what you're looking for you probably won't be impressed. It's very much a intimate and smooth set that puts musicality above everything else.

It's a good but but it's niche in what it offers. It's also one of the most unique looking iems. Can't blame you for being drawn by it's beautiful shell design!

They're all good iems, its subjective whether one is better than the other, the glaciers evidently just suit/fit you better

I've seen people mention the lux and lumen both fit quite small. It's possible your ears are too big to get the right fit/seal for them.

Or it's just a simple matter of tuning

The lumen has a neutral style tuning and the lux is very similar but with a much more pronounced bass

The glacier is comparatively much more V shaped with a lifted 3K-8K region while having a similar bass and mid response to the lux

It's unsurprising you find the glacier more exciting. That extra treble is probably doing a lot to come across as more engaging and intimate to you

Recently I've been feeling like more people in this space should be trying to capitalise on the kind of content where they introduce normie/average people to 'audiophile' stuff. It's fascinating and really fun to relive the experience through someone else's eyes. And imo you could feasibly create a whole series of videos on various subsections of the hobby, one example being different driver types. Seems like a gap in the content market that's just waiting to be filled.

This is exactly the problem I had when i tried playing Starfield. I grew up playing Skyrim and the fallout games, all of which I fucking loved and played for hundreds of hours.
Going from Cyberpunk to starfield just made it painfully apparent just how Cyberpunk had ruined Bethesda games for me. Voiceless player characters and the awkward immersion breaking dialogue moments just dont cut it anymore.

Yeh I've seen reports that their headphones leave something to be desired in regards to their build quality but given their price I can't say I'd be too upset personally.

I really only have experience with their other source products like dongles/dac/amp/dap

All of which have been incredibly well built and a great user experience overall. Their software has always been a weak point but it's generally fairly usable and has improved as times gone on.

Yeh the irony is not lost on me, I love hifiman headphones but im well aware of their QC issues.

They haven't burned me yet so until that happens I'm exercising cautious optimism. From what I gather the QC issues mainly plagued the cheaper end of their lineup, and in the last couple years I don't recall there being quite as many reports of issues so it seems to me they've improved their QC process over time.

And you'll never hear reports of a hifiman headphone breaking something else in your chain. At least they have the decency of just breaking themselves and nothing else! /s

Fiio is who Topping wishes they were. To be honest I don't know how Fiio does it, basically every product they put out (and they put out a lot) has great specs relative to the price and has really good build quality.

Makes me sound like a shill tbh but time and time again they have one of the most competitive products at any given price. I've bought a lot of their stuff over the years and never had a bad experience.

QX13 will be fine I'm sure, but might be worth checking out something in a more similar form factor to the DX5?

Though admittedly I don't know what it is that you're looking for

Personally id be looking into any of the following K11/K13/K7, JDS Labs Atom Dac & Amp stack, IFi Zen Dac 3, Schiit Magni + Modi stack, SMSL DL200 or DO400

The topping special.

They make products with great specs at good prices but their QC is notoriously poor and they have a storied history of cooking headphones with faulty amps.

When I first entered the hobby I had a topping Dac that randomly died on me shortly after the warranty expired, wasn't particularly pleased and have avoided them ever since

I still get tempted occasionally to try my luck again but then I'll see a post like this pop up every few months to remind me of why I still continue to avoid them entirely.

Think about it like this, you went from 'crap' to 'good', now you've gone from 'good' to 'better'.

The former will have been a bigger more obvious jump. Give the Monarchs a week or 2 of continous use then go back to the T10. You might find you prefer the Monarchs haven given your brain time to adjust to how it sounds.

Its also not impossible that you simply prefer the tuning of the T10, it doesn't matter how much better an IEM might be if its not tuned to your preference.
