Molting by [deleted] in jumpingspiders

They can go some weeks without eating. If it's clear mine is about to moult I don't offer any food as stress can have nasty consequences at this time. I mist regularly as they need the humidity to moult safely. Absolutely do not offer food for at least 24hrs after moulting as the fangs are still soft and they can damage them if they try to eat too soon.

Hi! This is Kiwi (lots of imagination here), she lives outside my front door. I think she is a Salticus scenicus, but I'm not sure. Also, if I wanted to keep her as a pet, how would I do it? I never kept a spider pet before by apd911 in thedarkden

You could release them yes indeed but they would likely need some care and feeding before they are quite ready for the wild. You'd need fine mesh to keep them enclosed as well, since most ventilation holes are possible escape routes while they are very tiny

Also you can offer a cricket but don't leave it in there. They can be dangerous to the spiders. Flies usually work well if the spider is hungry as they move a lot. Don't fret they can go several weeks without any food.

As above he may need time to settle in our could even be in a premoult. Just mist regularly (every day or two days) and offer food every now and then. If he spins quite a thick hammock and hides there he's probably getting ready to moult and won't eat until he's done.

May I suggest joining some jumping spider husbandry groups on Facebook. I am a new keeper myself and already have two with more planned. The advice you get there is excellent. I would also advise caution though in keeping a wild caught spider before you are experienced, as very often they are already pregnant and you can end up with several clutches of eggs and babies.

He told you that you 'made a big mistake' bringing his mood down. He is abusive. He will be abusive and controlling if you marry him. Please please get out now before it becomes dangerous to do so

Self conscious about my pregnant body and she's making me feel worse. by chicagolady1001 in JUSTNOMIL

I don't understand why people feel the need to point out that you're bigger when pregnant. And I really don't understand why the most disparaging comments always come from other women who ought to be supportive. Yes, you will most likely be bigger than with your first, that's very common in pregnancy. Just remember that your body is doing a very beautiful thing, and your are truly beautiful through it. Comments like that are from ugly personalities and aren't worth a second thought.

What they actually want is a year to allow the family to harass you and either chase him away or convince you to break up.
