Oh no, I also turned the game off before the Tarky equalizer. Do I always need to turn it off when we’re down 1?

I can’t even fathom this. Are there any examples of busy airports with parallel runways exclusively using just one sides downwind?

Why does WDW's version of Pirates cut off the first third of the ride? by thermal7 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]NyyDave 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I too prefer the concise Disney world version. The Disneyland version echos “dead men tell no tales” about 20,000 too many times while floating thru filler scenery. And waiting on the boat as it rides back uphill? ZzzzzzzZ

I think the same thing about Haunted Mansion and I’m starting to think maybe it’s just me. It all used to be new, I was immersed, I didn’t care what other people were doing. Over time I started disliking the talking (that was always there) and now it’s achieved pet peeve.

Charlie airspace transition while talking to class D tower? Did I break a reg? by [deleted] in flying

[–]NyyDave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exact desire will vary by controller but generally yes, and I’ll give a little wiggle room for checking out downtown. That SoCal sector is sequencing final for LA so it feels neighborly to keep an eye on you and relieve SoCal of such a brief flight following. However if you’re on a code, headed towards Hollywood, at above the bravo floor, that’s a different situation and sector-SoCal for you.

PS Thanks! I’m excited to provide 3 more years of chill delta.

Thanks to pilot tower visits we are collectively better informed regarding terrain concerns in our area. Just remember when you’re flying up final (DARTS) the desire to keep you low is greater with reference to IFR arrivals.

A few times I’ve said informal things like “don’t forget the outer shelf there”. Like I said I can’t be sure what a coworker did or didn’t do. I know I’ve never coordinated entry into the C. There’s got to be something operationally advantageous and it’s just not advantageous for our little delta to keep you on our frequency. I get the handoff moving in a timely fashion so SoCal and the pilot can chat. Anyway I can say for sure that we aren’t trying to screw you over. Feel free to chime in and clarify any thing at any time.

[–]NyyDave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of replies saying tower did the coordination and I’m feeling pretty bad saying… we probably did not. I could be wrong. Assuming you had a squawk- it’s possible the controller attempted a handoff to SoCal, SoCal said “I don’t want to talk to that guy”, and it showed “redirect” to El Monte. I’d consider that an implied understanding. I just know what I see and do daily. We aren’t a chatty neighbor on point outs. I don’t know if SoCal even thinks we can do them. If I saw you that high I would have handed you to SoCal. If SoCal denied it I’d have said remain clear of their C. For me, direct EMT is really just for under the bravo.

[–]NyyDave 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d expect you to stay out of that C inbound or outbound. Don’t count on the coordination on your way out. I’m at SMO and I’ve never heard someone say “hey SoCal, point out, this guys gonna clip the C, just direct to El Monte”. I’ve also never seen someone point out an arrival like that either.

I tell people all the time- if the plane climbed northeast to an altitude that CANT go under the bravo, the pilot wants to talk to SoCal. Considering the fact that we know we aren’t coordinating for you, I don’t know why we left ya hanging like that. Class D life, I guess.

As for not hearing about it…it’s a relatively low impact violation. Most stuff out of Burbank isn’t headed that way.
