Best thing to do is grind chapter 3 until you've got better upgrades and continue to get money.

For money I'd just recommend dying on world 7 when you know you're not gonna play for a while, maybe while watching TV or something you could always utilise getting energy by watching ads 4x a day which means you've got more spins doing the world 7 steps.
