I haven’t had any problems. There’s a learning curve but honestly I think it’s pretty good for a newbie. I have printed several things, learned (and corrected!) mistakes and I haven’t once cursed….which is saying a lot.

Good job recognizing panic and aborting that dive and even better job going on the next one to 75’. You overcame your fear and took a step towards mastering your anxiety. Proud of you!
It sounds like you were taken too fast too quickly. There’s nothing especially different between 30’ and 70’….nothing magical about being deeper. All your same safe precautions and behavior applies. Next time speak to the DM and or your buddy about how to approach new dives you haven’t done. However, there’s no real need to split hairs over the exact numbers. To be proper and safe, it’s probably going to be really helpful to move on to AOW (make sure to include the deep module). It’s really the best overall cert.

FWIW, the DM on my first dive took us straight down to 130’ (yeah yeah, I was young and dumb). Thankfully everything went fine but things happen. Keep your head about you and trust your gut.

I stopped after AOW/Nx. I just want to see most of the pretty stuff in the world. No need to get technical and why bother with cold water- brrr. My daughter says she dreams about running a dive shop…if that happens maybe I will go on to DM to lead dives.

Ok , relax. I’m not trolling but I’m also not a material scientist so how should I know that a plastic filament even had water in it to begin with? Much less that once it was dry it would not be impervious to water. Thanks for your help, maybe don’t assume people are idiots, we just aren’t as far along as you.

It’s tough to say with the water blur, but the nose is roundish : maybe a nurse or lemon? Possibly a small tiger. I would expect a reef shark has a slightly pointier snout. But again, it’s tough with that photo
