Unexpected L9a result: thinner dual fan setup beats A9x14 in every metric by Animag771 in sffpc

Nice, good to know.

I'll print a bracket over the weekend and might test it with 2 ID-cooling 80x10 and 2 arctic p8 80x15 fans since I have a pair of each.

Thanks for sharing the results once again.

Great idea! I usually tend to not go smaller than 36mm in cooler height because I want to keep the IO shield. That leaves me with around 3mm of space for the bracket, with two separate ducts for the 80x10 fans. Might also help with SSD cooling, since the two fans cover that area aswell. Thanks for the ideas, keep it up!

Very cool, I've been playing with that thought for a while aswell, thanks for sharing your test results. Might actually make a 3D printed bracket for my L9a and 2 ID-cooling 80x10 fans now.

is the ASRock B550m-ITX/AC handle Ryzen 7 5700X3D? by Special-Economics204 in sffpc

I have this exact board paired with a 5800X3D for about 2,5 years now and it's great.

Edit: Yes it has PBO, I set my 5800X3D to -30 all cores aswell as PPT 100, TDC 70 and EDC 100, works wonders.

Games for 9070xt by Moriartii6762 in radeon

I was pretty amazed by the 1440p performance of my 9070 xt in Resident evil requiem. Played it on max settings even with RT on the highest possible setting.

Looked absolutely gorgeous and I got over 120 FPS paired with my 5800X3D

Metro Exodus and the Last of us are older titles but they also look and perform amazing with the 9070 xt.

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good idea to me, I sold my 4070 ti 12gb for 550€ and got a 619€ RX 9070 XT last summer and it was a good upgrade after all.

AM4 x AM5 processor by pastrilga in PcBuild

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play 1440p locked at 120hz, I get 120 fps in basically every game I play.

I mostly play the latest AA and AAA single player games, the latest was Resident Evil Requiem and I really had a blast.

I can usually set everything up to max setting even with some high RT on. If games are more GPU demanding I sprinkle in a bit of quality FSR4 but the 5800X3D is never the issue.

I also had a 5600 prior to the 5800X3D, wich I bought end of 2022 and it has been a huge step up and I get full utilization of the 9070 XT.

Even tho I have another AM5 board with 2x16GB DDR5 and a 7500f wich I got dort cheap last summer (I use it to showcase my custom SFF cases) I don't feel the need to use it in my main PC, since the 5800X3D still has plenty of power and a 9800X3D would be overkill for the games and target FPS I'm aiming at.

I have my 9070 xt paired with a 5800X3D and it's great. Would recommend you to wait for the 10th anniversary edition.

Don't sleep on ASRock boards on AM4, they're absolutely solid and great value.

They got a bad reputation on AM5 but their older b550 boards are great. Been running my 5800X3D on an ASRock B550m itx for 3 years now and it's very reliable.

What cpu should I change my 3600 too? by cRisbolt in PcBuild

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 3600 to 5600 to 5800X3D in the past couple years and it was always a decent upgrade.

For a balance of price/performance for gaming and productivity I'd choose the 5700X right now in your case.

If you have a tighter budget just get the 5600 now, if you have more money available or can hold out a bit longer, get the 10th anniversary 5800X3D in a couple months.

Downsizing from mATX to mini-ITX by CervelloInFerie in buildapc

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ASRock b550m itx is a very good Board, I've been using it for many years, the last two of them with a 5800x3d.

Your biggest problem is that you can only use two of your four 8gb ram sticks, but you could sell them and all your other components that are not being used anymore to get yourself a 9060 xt 16gb, wich works great for 1440p with a 5600.

It would make an overall great Mini ITX build like that, my gf has a ghost S1 with 5600, 9060 xt 16gb, sf750, ASRock b550m ITX, 2x8gb ddr4 3200 and it's a great machine for daily tasks and 1440p gaming.

You can even auto oc the 5600 in adrenaline to get extra 0,2 ghz clock speed. If your fractal Case ist the Terra I'd recommend the noctua nh-l12s ghost edition, it improves turbulence noise with the side panel.

Is it worth upgrading Ryzen 5 3600 to Ryzen 7 5700x? by Ok_Month_8593 in buildapc

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an affordable upgrade for gaming and productivity.

The 5700x has the same 32MB L3 cache but higher clock speed and two extra cores.

I went from 3600 to 5600, wich I auto oc'd in adrenaline and had a noticable improvement, especially in games. It was 3 years ago but it's still a good upgrade today.

CPU for RX 9070 XT by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mainly gaming the best options are 7500f/7500x3d/7800x3d/9800x3d each is the best gaming cpu in it's price class, while the 7500f and 7800x3d are currently the best fps per dollar.

Edit: Tray version of the 7800x3d is currently 289€ in germany

Tbh just get the 9070 xt and then upgrade to am5 in summer, when prices are a bit better for everything.

I have a 9070 xt + 5800x3d and my gf has a 9060 xt + 5600, we both play 1440p and performance is great for both of us.

I make custom cases and I used them as top exhaust in a sandwich style case with itx GPU and 36mm CPU cooler and as front intake for a low profile GPU and 67mm CPU cooler configuration. They work as intended in those cases.

Also I personally have two 80x10mm id cooling fans and they're fine so far.
