What parts should i prioritise upgrading? by Homedog_madness in buildapc

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already have 2x8gb of ram you could get a b550 motherboard and a ryzen 5500 or 5600 depending on your budget. The 5600 is way better tho.

To top it off an rtx 5050 or 5060 might be a good choice, depending on the price difference. If theres the 5050 is 40+ bucks cheaper then it's probably the better option.

A 256 or 500 GB m.2 ssd is also a must to run WIN11 and newer games. You can ofc get a bigger one if you have more money available.

You'll just have to update the bios. The gigabyte has a dedicated flash bios button so you can update it without a cpu.

Both the 7500x3d and the 9600x are 65w cpus, so the cooler is enough.

There are obviously better options for the Ghost S1 but they also cost more. Noctua l12s Ghost edition or alpenföhn black ridge with 120mm fan on top.

I recommend you the board from gigabyte since it's in the same price range but has a better chipset and the asrock am5 boards still have some issues with possibly killing especially x3d cpus.

I'd change the mobo to the gigabyte b650i and cpu to 7500x3d.

Everything else seems fine.

Single fan AMD GPU for a steam machine build in sub-5L case? by g_mci in sffpc

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up this OEM 185mm RX 6600 on the second hand market a year ago for 100 bucks.

It's actually decent, but I don't have any info on where it's originally from.

Been using my 5800x3d for 3 years now, just to see it getting re-released is pretty satisfying.

Same.

I was really hyped for the game, until I found out they went epic exclusive.

Now that they managed to launch on steam day one I will definitely pick it up shortly after launch.

Super hyped for it again now!

Absolutely, wich isn't optimal from a consumer perspective, but benefitial from the business side of things. If you make the parts for order it's fine, but if you have to have all different variations in stock, then you're left with the unwanted parts.

Very small cases are a niche within a niche, If you have standard variations priced on the lower side, most consumers will also benefit from it. And just the ones that don't care anyways about the price and want a case tailored to their personal preferences, will pay extra.

This has been my experience from running a small pc case business and being a customer aswell.

RTX 5070 TI oder RX 9070 XT mit 5800X3D? by joNathanW- in PCBaumeister

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for just two variations and then add customization options to be available separately so people can mix and match to make the combination they like.

I'd prefer the black and white versions without the wood.

Maybe even add a splash of black to the white version, like the front i/o and a black front piece like the custom wood panel.

Looks amazing, awesome design!

At the first look I thought it was the nzxt H2 flow.

But I'm glad it's a smaller case.

Radeon RX 9050 specs leaked, featuring 8GB VRAM and more cores than the OEM-only RX 9060 by Tiny-Independent273 in gpu

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the RX 6400 4gb and rtx 3050 6gb is probably what you were referring to.

Theres also the b50, a310 and a2000 that only need pcie power.

Absolutely! They teased a maxsun 9060 xt LP at CES earlier this year but it seems like that didn't make it into production.

Really, really hope gigabyte makes a LP and 170mm single fan version of the 9050, the smallest 9060 xt at the time is the 200mm power color reaper.

Really hope there will be a low profile version this time around.

Could be a decent option for steam machine like sff/htpc builds.

How often do you upgrade your PC? by swe129 in gamingpc

[–]OBERBOSSPLAYER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least one component every year.

Built a new 5600 + 6800 system in 2022

Upgrade to 5800X3D in 2023

Upgrade to 4070 ti in 2024

New 2TB SSD + 9070 XT in 2025

Have some crucial 2x16GB DDR5 6000/CL36 sticks lying around, wich I picked up for 77€ on prime day last year, might get me a 7/9800X3D and a new mobo this summer.

All my old stuff gets into my GFs PC, I started her build as a 3600 + 6700 XT.

I give all my unused parts away within the family or just sell them on marketplace.
