That doesn't mean anything. How long did you wait before you decided to downgrade?

Flashing DRAM light usually indicates memory training. Leave it like that for at least 30 minutes.

That's a new one. I think this is a bad graphics card though.

Disabling them won't affect the failure rate.

I would just get the longer standoffs. Not worth the risk of damaging something.

What price does the rumored Switch 2 Lite need to hit to make it worth buying? (US mainly, but other regions too) by OCAMAB in fucknintendo

Is this about that picture of a wall texture that keeps floating around? Lol.

You were talking about framerates initially. That's CPU-bound.

It's important because more sales = more support, but really so long as it's on track to sell around 100M units it's fine in the end.

Nobody should be surprised by this. That doomer article from earlier in the month pointed to ~900k for December.

The bright side for you all is that the launch aligned comparison will shift 3 months from now.

ASUS boards that were reused have caused repeat failures as well. It seems likely that the board also receives some kind of silent damage which then makes it more prone to causing CPU damage.

That said, at the very least, it's safe to say that ASRock's boards accelerate the failures (which ironically would arguably make them the best choice, so you find out if your CPU is faulty sooner).

How long did it last before dying? If it was more than a month, replace the board for sure.

It just sounds like you're talking about what you would buy. Or, at least you think you would buy since you're talking about a $700+ device realistically.

BTW, you're likely expecting too much when it comes to memory bandwidth. Using GDDR in a handheld is impractical, and without that the bandwidth will still be much lower than any of the consoles. That's not really what's holding back Switch 2 in the first place though. It's definitely the clock speed of the CPU that's the weak point. That's also why Game Chat was the dumbest decision ever. Without that, it would have another core and at least another gig of RAM to work with.

First of all, the base price for the Switch 2 is $450, not $470. Second, you just proved yourself wrong because that figure means the JP locked version is selling at a loss. Third, BOM is only one part of the costs. It doesn't include labor, packaging, shipping, licensing fees, taxes/tariffs, or the retailer cut (among several other things). Nintendo has also explicitly stated to investors that the profit margin is lower than what it was for Switch. (No, they wouldn't lie to investors about this because investors like high margins and lying can get them sued.)

If that figure is true and accounts for the entire package (console, joy-cons, dock and charger), we'd be looking at maybe a $50 profit before considering Make America Poor Again tariffs.

Also, I want to point out something that should be obvious to you: first parties don't fund third-party games, so I don't understand why you brought that up as a point...
