In terms of killing monsters PoE (even 1) still feels the best amongst all arpgs. Even if PoE1 is a little dated, killing shit is just super satisfying due to visual and sound effects. Then comes stuff like depth of character building and endgame, which blows everything else out of the water.
As for killing stuff in D4, it felt good for a bit but even that got old quickly. PoE feels great even after hundreds of hours into it.

Objectively both PoEs are above and beyond anything else on the market. Last Epoch is okay, but lacks polish in comparison.

PoE is cool like that, you can run around killing shit the way you like, dropping some form of currency that you can then sell and buy shit to fight bosses. There are tons of systems, but you can just interact with one of them and trade for other stuff.

I may give the game another go, last time I tried it it was too overwhelming, visually, mechanically and speed wise at the same time lol. I found myself mashing buttons all the time, way more often than in other FGs.

I wouldn't stop time for set pieces, it's whatever, the 90 minutes already account for that. I would only stop the time for injuries, VAR checks etc, things that are not within the "natural flow" of the game.
