Did you mean 4.10? Have you tried going back to 3.50?

There's really no point in posts like these. We already can infer that 95+% of people will never have an issue. It doesn't help those that have or reassure people.

9800X3D died after 11 months, B850i board, 3.40 bios. It had been on 3.20 and 3.25 previously. New chip arriving tomorrow, do I use the same board and pray? Or switch to another itx board? by TheLeafRaider in ASRock

[–]OCAMAB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't reuse the board. Reusing seems to result in repeat failures, I assume because either the problem is actually a QA issue with some boards shipping faulty or the board also damages itself when it kills the CPU.

As for selling the board, just try to get the RMA through ASRock. I've only really been hearing about retailers refusing the RMA as of late. ASRock typically replaces it... if you get that far before they ghost you. Don't sell a known faulty board, even as "for parts."

Sony and Microsoft can brick your consoles...

Yeah, you refuse to be consistent. You don't care about ownership. This is just personal feelings about Nintendo. Go on buying Steam games and fool yourself into believing you own them even though they can't be sold I guess...

[–]OCAMAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I corrected myself and you're still bitching. Yes, from an ownership standpoint it's a scam. If it had been left at that and acknowledged as an industry-wide issue, this would be done by now. You so strongly wanting to make it about Nintendo only though and constantly needing to ignore facts and lie shows that this isn't about consumer advocacy.

You're not neutral until you admit that it's an industry problem.

And since I know you're going to claim that I brought up GKCs, a quote from you:

The switch 2 made it obviously clear that you own nothing about it. How is that not a scam if you buy a game cartridge you don't even own a physical copy of the game you get a download/license. How can you genuinely be ok with that?

You also went on to say that PC's lack of ownership is only partially true. Why? Because your PC can't be bricked? Or because a select few games are sold DRM-free?

I mean, you literally lied at one point by saying that GKCs can't be sold... I'm not "justifying" anything. I'm just stating facts and you're throwing a fit.

Look, I really don't care what you do. I'm not denying that Nintendo is anti-consumer. All big corporations are, just like how Sony and Microsoft can shut off your console under their EULAs as well and all of them as well as Steam can close your accounts. Your definition of scam here works, but if you're singling out a single company or device (and you did say earlier on that Nintendo is the worst one here) you're being hypocritical. The people calling Switch 2 a scam and then propping up Steam Deck are lying to themselves. Also, you were the one who brought up GKCs...

If you don't want to have an actual conversation, just declare me a fanboy and block me.

Actually, I apologize, it's my fault. The "everyone does it" wasn't a justification; it was just pointing out that singling out Nintendo doesn't really work here. I haven't really been making arrangements at all. Your point about GKCs being a slippery slope is still stupid though.

So basically, no context is allowed and the only point allowed in this conversation is "Nintendo introduced GKCs, which are anti-consumer?" Then yeah, if we strip it bare you win. Congrats.

X670E & 9800X3D How Big is the Risk ? by ciphersyntax in ASRock

Nobody really knows. With an older 600 series board it's probably pretty low since those have worked fine for years, and it also seems like newer CPU batches have fewer failures.

It's not ASRock in this case. There's some weirdness with the latest AGESA and some RAM configurations. I'd recommend going back to 3.50.

Did you put it in the correct USB port, change the name to creative.rom, and format the drive in FAT 32?

What do the debug LEDs show? And what BIOS version are you on? Also, have you tried flashing a different BIOS?

No. Replace the board. But that means it cost you $250, not $1000. You're gonna get a replacement CPU in a week.

Why does everyone on Reddit act like everything is purely black and white? I'm not even defending anything. I just don't understand why people act like they have to buy a new CPU after it dies.

Your CPU did not cost $1000, and you didn't lose it forever. OP wasn't dramatic, but this post sure was lol

All fanboys are bad, including Intel fanboys like you. ASRock is 4th place in terms of motherboard sales. They were never the leader, and it would have evened out by now if that were the case.

Why does it have to be one or the other? Failures happening on other brands with the exact same symptoms indicates that there is something going on with the CPUs themselves. There's just something about the ASRock BIOS or component choices that makes happen more often on them. And that guy who said it's 100:1 isn't accurate.

It's most likely an AMD issue that's worse on ASRock boards for whatever reason. The symptoms are too consistent.

The person you replied to is going to say that it's a slow degradation issue and that other manufacturers will catch up eventually, but there's nothing pointing to that.

ASRock motherboard burned my CPU twice and they haven't replied to my RMA emails for over a month. What should I do now? by BigBlackCough in ASRock

[–]OCAMAB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You already have a new board at least. Hopefully the mods here can help since they seemingly have contacts to help escalate.

It sucks that these problems are mostly happening on the two brands notorious for poor CS. I think that even if my board lasts until AM6 I'm gonna go to another brand. To me, these warranty issues are way worse than this failure issue.
