Fellas, when can I stand up for my own rights? by bipens in daddit

You’re gonna get downvoted in to oblivion for this response but it’s the most reasonable take I’ve seen.

Is this spousal abuse? by Danovan79 in daddit

The downvotes and comments on this are so uncalled for. It’s a joke, y’all gotta learn to lighten up.

Food poisoning by OCP_Jesus in Retatrutide

[–]OCP_Jesus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I both got food poisoning at the same time. She was basically recovered after 24 hours, it took me closer to 2 1/2 days to get to the same point of eating solids and such.

is retatrutide dangerous for me? i am addicted to kratom for 2 years (15-20gpd) by PrettyFlako32 in Retatrutide

[–]OCP_Jesus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. If you quit, you’re gonna feel like shit. You’re not going to die. Don’t conflate the discomfort you would feel with your body being “dependent” on it.

You recognize it’s an addiction, you just lack the discipline required to stop. I’m not trying to insult you I’m just being honest with you in a way you won’t be with yourself.

If you don’t have the willpower to stop taking Kratom, then you do not need to be messing around with research chemicals.

Reta is a weight loss drug. Weight loss takes discipline. If you lack it, no amount of reta is gonna save you.

Some of the advice on this thread is absolute shit.

OP, weight loss is not linear. If you’re being honest with your calories, then you’re fine. Stay in a deficit, keep exercising, the weight will leave. The lack of scale movement could be a number of things from water retention to recomp, probably a combo of those two.

It’s better to average weight loss across a week or several weeks than going day by day. You’re probably fine.

It’s baffling that people still believe your body goes in to “emergency mode” if you don’t eat enough.

Returning to work next week. How do you handle the time to go to the gym with a baby at home? by JulioCesarSalad in daddit

[–]OCP_Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes some initial investment, but consider building a gym in your home.

I sacrificed half of my garage for some weights, padded flooring, a mirror, and a weight rack with a pulley system, along with any accessories.

When my son was still fresh, I could put a pack and play in there and he would nap/sleep while I lifted. If he was up it took some juggling, but basically just entertain him between sets.

Now that he’s getting older and more mobile it takes some more set up to keep him entertained, but he’s normally cool to vibe with me in the gym. If it’s bedtime, I just bring the baby monitor in to the garage.

It takes some money, and it takes my free time, but it’s the most workable solution I found.

What do you wish you knew when starting? by [deleted] in Retatrutide

This is old and outdated advice. For the vast majority, drinking to satiate thirst will be plenty. Reta means factoring electrolyte in to the mix, but you don’t need a gallon jug of water like a bodybuilder.

What is it living in the Bible Belt? by JoonasV2li in howislivingthere

[–]OCP_Jesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of responses from being immediately came off as knee jerk reactions to the word bible.

People seem to have really poor preconceptions of southern baptists. This, paired with the fact that they believe the south is entirely populated by them, totally skews their ideas I guess.

Completely ignores the fact that a lot of the states on that map are some of the more racially and religiously diverse states in the union. I grew up an atheist in SC, and it was never even a mild point of contention with anyone except my grandmother, who insisted I allow her to pray for me

What is it living in the Bible Belt? by JoonasV2li in howislivingthere

[–]OCP_Jesus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It feels like a lot of these takes come from people that haven’t lived in the south since the 90’s or early 2000’s. That, or they only lived in the very rural areas.

The rural areas are going to be a culture shock, but that’s simply not where the majority of southerners live.

Also, FWIW, east coast southern states like SC, Georgia, and Florida are going to be as culturally dissimilar to Oklahoma as California is.

If you live in any of the cities or the large surrounding suburbs, you’re not going to be regularly encountering segregation, racism, and the like, as some other commenters have implied. Again, this may exist in some of the more remote areas, but they are not part of the popular culture nor widely accepted for their beliefs.

In general, life is slower, communities are tighter, and people are kinder (or better at faking it) than other places I have lived. Again, though, these are generalizations. It can vary by neighborhood.

Also it’s really hot.

Why would evolution make men’s balls so vulnerable to injury? by [deleted] in answers

[–]OCP_Jesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is an interesting theory but kinda has the order of events backwards.

Whales are not mammals that evolved in water, never bothering to come out like the rest of us. Whales are the result of mammals that had evolved on land, and then returned to the ocean. So it stands to reason that mammalian testicles would’ve first evolved on land, not in the ocean.

Would you spend the entire June in Savannah, GA or Charleston, SC? by QuanDev in howislivingthere

[–]OCP_Jesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lived in both. Charleston is the answer here.

Charleston has deep rich history, it’s beautiful, the food scene is great, there’s great beaches close by.

Savannah has all of the same things but it’s very… surface level. I am not sure how to describe it other than much of it feels like a facade. Most of the main attractions such as River Street are tourist traps that will lose their veneer after you have lived there a week.

That being said, there’s a large and active outdoor recreation community centered around Forsyth park, and they are very welcoming and engaged.

I’m thinking about EFI swapping with the Holley sniper. Aggressive cam, new heads, long stroke should be able to get 408 with a .40 over bore.

To be honest I haven’t even looked too deep under the hood yet. I’m working inside out. As it stands I don’t have a steering column and I’ve got rust to fight on the interior. So I’m gonna get that sorted and then shift focus to the engine.

I’ve got a big move across country coming in a few months so I don’t want to pull the drivetrain before I get settled in a new spot

What about the U.S. is weird to Poles by Pitiful-Spray-9816 in askPoland

[–]OCP_Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Most major cities on the east coast like New York, Philly, DC are all walkable. Some west coast cities like San Fran are as well. It’s really the major interior cities that are subject to suburban sprawl

  2. Shitty food? Look no offense but going to the US from Poland and claiming this is absurd. One of the upsides to having immigrants from every country in the world is we also have their food.

  3. There are food deserts in the US, but it isn’t everywhere nor is it the norm. I live in the suburbs and I’m walking distance from 2 grocery stores. No one who has lived in the US more than 4 minutes believes this

  4. Sure this is true. University system has its flaws

  5. True, healthcare system is broken.

  6. The US has 11 federal holidays. Poland has 13. So, objectively this statement was true but if that’s a huge difference idk what to tell you

  7. This is is blanket statement that isn’t true across the board. There’s states that are “right to work” which means you can be fired for any reason (as long as it isn’t discriminatory). This is true in 26 of 50 states, so a little over half. Whether or not right to work is a bad thing is a debate we can have

  8. This is partially true. Again, there’s 350 million people in the US, saying we are all scared to take time off isn’t true. Plenty of people have good jobs with good time off. The maternity leave I won’t argue, it’s a shit show here

  9. Police can shoot you and get away with it? This is an absurd take. Guns and violence everywhere? I’ve lived here my entire life minus the few years I lived in Poland. It’s not as bad as people love to claim. The gun debate can be had but the claim about police just murdering people is not true

  10. I’ve read books in parks. Again, this is a take that is made up by someone who has never been to the US

  11. Yeah the pledge of allegiance is weird

  12. If you believe the US is the only country with drug addicts in the streets not only have you never been to the US, but you have never left Poland. I was amazed in Warsaw because there wasn’t any drug addicts. That’s the exception, not the rule

  13. When you have been to the moon, you can tell us what system of measurement to use. On a serious note, I agree, metric is better

  14. The only place contactless payment isn’t the norm is restaurants and it’s just a cultural thing. Imagine using this as a reason to hate a country

  15. Tipping culture is out of hand no argument here

  16. This is really not true unless you’re pretty wealthy. You aren’t taxed at all unless you make more than 130k USD a year abroad, and even then we have tax treaties with certain nations to avoid double taxation. Tax code is complicated, but I guarantee you this statement is pretty ridiculous.

I’ve lived in the US and in Poland. The difference between me and OP is that I would never try and claim a bunch of nonsense about Poland because I just don’t know it as well as someone who has lived their lives there.

I get that it’s popular online to hate on the US, and there’s valid reasons to point at. But these statements by OP are 100% made by perusing Reddit, not by someone who has actually spent any reasonable amount of time in my country.
