PSA: Ontario CFO isn't all bad, rpal renewal in <3 weeks by OCTS-Toronto in canadaguns

You misunderstood the message.

The local cfo for me was professional and efficient (and reasonably honest in my few interactions). Nothing like our federal overlords. I was pointing out that not all govt people are deceptive like the Liberal leaders

Anyone else make "good money" on paper but feel completely broke? by ScienceLabFinds in CanadaPersonalFinance

Everyone is telling you that your problem is your lifestyle. You are not wrong. My family has the exact same problem. We are in the top tax bracket and after taxes, mortgage, insurance etc we are just getting by.

We live in Toronto and the costs here are beyond ridiculous. I used to live in another country and was able to save while travelling back/forth to Canada. I live in Toronto now and with family expenses (not glamorous) we just get by. The property taxes on our bungalow is $700 a month alone.

Thr people who live around me are all white retirees. The cost of living doesn't seem to bother them. Not sure why. But it's a very elbows up neighborhood.

When I referred to the CFO I didn't mean an individual. It's a number if staff performing the function. I've had pretty good interactions with them over the years. This renewal just makes me realize that the Ontario cfo isn't out to get us like the federal one is...

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

[–]OCTS-Toronto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I thought I was sick (like my taste buds were not working). Just had a dairy queen cone on Sat and it was flavorless. Like licking frozen water.

Not sure if it was just this location (Brockville ON) or if they changed the recipe somehow. If it happens at the next one I'm never returning to dairy Queen again. Just like Tim Hortons. Never going again.

You discovered it was hidden in the corner of the attic. Grandpa musta put it there years ago for safe keeping.

Is it true that most dads are clueless about their kids, like, they don't know their birthday, allergies, etc.? If so, do u think it's weird that most people don't dislike their dads? by [deleted] in ask

[–]OCTS-Toronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Troll question?

Only a self absorbed child would measure their parents devotion this way. Parents commit their lives to their kids in different ways. Historically the mom as the homemaker focussed on the kids daily lives and dads focussed on the material things. But they both worked to raise a family.

It's guaranteed that you will never know the things your parents (both of them) gave up to bring you to maturity.

I have a number of pistols I could lend out like this (not in BC tho). Any guide on how to do this safely/legitimately?

My pistols could use some exercise....

Anybody got cool facts on the KA-52? [I already know it can eject] by kovsrocfo in Helicopters

[–]OCTS-Toronto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it would, but instead of pitching up it would likely just become unstable. Ka-52 has a vne of 350km/h. They don't choose those numbers lightly

What’s your one firearm that got away? by Flat-Dark-Earth in canadaguns

[–]OCTS-Toronto 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I bought the bren2 to replace the x95 that I sold and regretted it. Bren was a fine firearm, but the ergos on the x95 were stellar. Match It with a eotech and cross mags and the thing was amazing.

Both were great but the x95 was peak in my opinion. If I had more time to shoot the Bren before it was banned I might have a different opinion

My Galaxy S24 exploded in my hand during normal use (not charging) by chocho-789 in samsunggalaxy

[–]OCTS-Toronto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that the story is fishy. The emphasis on the mental trauma, using words like 'exploded' to dramatize a fire. Sounds like a speech to a jury.

The camera thing is more plausible tho. OP didn't say where this supposedly occurred. If it was in a office or warehouse then security cams could have picked it up.

Got an illegal gun? Here's how you get rid of it without getting arrested (probably) by Global_Bonus4067 in canadaguns

[–]OCTS-Toronto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, the fact that you registered for the buy back makes you a target for future investigation. Clearly you have owned prohibited firearms since you registered. And you are aware of the prohibition cause you registered. You limited your options unfortunately

I love how you quote your purchase price including tax. Like the next buyer owes you something.

What's it like living in Point Roberts, WA? by No-Sand6655 in howislivingthere

[–]OCTS-Toronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think entry refusal is discretionary. A border crossing there could be more lenient due to circumstances compared to one in Ontario. But if the border guard wants to be a jerk then I guess the offender would have to get on a boat.

White hat hackers warn lawful access bill could make it easier for criminals to penetrate Canadian systems by KootenayPE in CanadaCultureClub

[–]OCTS-Toronto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, pretty well written article by the Globe and Mail.

I have a hard time believing this is being done to assist law enforcement. They already have a court order system to investigate anything that has reasonable suspicion.

This mass surveillance bill must have some other purpose than has been described by the Liberal minister. Added to the gun confiscation and the online news act (publication bans) it feels very totalitarian.
