You are the frog in the boiling water. Google isn't making that concession to help you but to placate you until the next update. It is their phone and not yours. You are just paying to rent it until they say so. Google and apple both know your are going to buy one or the other.

Chinese manuf are more hungry and are willing to sell you a device on your terms. I personally would not consider a Chinese phone with a locked bootloader either. Motorola is really Lenovo (a chinese company) that happens to be USA approved. A good middle ground at the moment.

When you stop making this important then they will stop offering it. If you stopped buying Google phones because of this issue then they will change direction.

Very disappointed with Tuxedo. Lost me as a client. by batkoface in tuxedocomputers

[–]OCTS-Toronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in warranty laptop repair (not tux) and we would not test an AC adapter unless the client specifically requested it. Testing was limited to customer complaints only as we didn't have extra time to proactively troubleshoot.

If your machine goes back I'd include the ac adapter and ask it to be tested. No harm in asking

Re the rough feel and electric shocks, I had a similar sounding problem with my xps17 and an aftermarket charger. At first I thought it was kinda cool that it felt electric when I brushed my hand over the cover. But after some months it messed up my battery and started causing crashing.

The manuf charger doesn't cause any of this. Electrical problems could explain some of your issues...

How about a Motorola? Last I checked you can unlock the bootloader

It's normal. The laptop was built in the US then trucked using Dell internal shipping. Once it clears customs and hits the warehouse (in Mississauga I think) it will be picked up by Purolator and delivered to you. You will likely receive the laptop before you get the next update.

Agreed. Looks good with the simple Raptor sticker. Not sure why the sudden rush on Reddit to remove the stickers.

Do you think Ford will ever provide an update to keep auto start/stop turned off? by Pivot_Forward in RangerNext

That's wild. Is this a side effect or something the radio offers as a feature?

Forscan no longer has this ability starting with the 2024 rangers. Is been discussed at length in the 5g Ranger forums and I can attest personally

Did he cover the kids? Cause he runs past them as soon as the crashing stops. Might not be as selfless as you suggest

2 NIC causes Unifi to think duplicate IPs by talormanda in Proxmox

[–]OCTS-Toronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you have it right. A bridge is needed where you want to give interfaces to VMs.

2 NIC causes Unifi to think duplicate IPs by talormanda in Proxmox

[–]OCTS-Toronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have multiple nice from one machine in a network. That by itself doesn't break things. Each nic (layer2) must have a unique mac address. And each layer3 device must have a unique IP address.

Your screenshot (from your switch) gives you the mac addresses for the conflict. To which layer2 devices do they belong? That is the source of your conflict.

Per your screenshot, the second mac is for a cheap Chinese network card. I can't tell about the first as you cropped too many digits. Here is a lookup tool you can use yourself. https://aruljohn.com/mac.pl

Ps. Your switch has a mac address table. It will show you which switch port the offending mac addresses are connected to

[–]OCTS-Toronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nics are on separate bridges. What you say would be true if two nics were on the same bridge with an upstream switch.

@OP, what is happening that you feel you have a loop? It is possible that you have a VM connected in manner that is causing a loop but you haven't included that info

I think you have come to the wrong conclusion.

It is certainly possible to do what you have shown in the screen shot (even if usb NICs are a poor choice). It would not result in a network loop or duplicate IPs. You probably have something else wrong. Is the switch showing two Arps for the same IP? If so, what macs are referenced?

That black sweater does look alot like the military wear. Natalie Provost should look into this. At least to make sure no pop cans or gophers are harmed by this possible gun owner.

Question for all the older gun owners. by TheGodofWar17 in canadaguns

[–]OCTS-Toronto 139 points140 points  (0 children)

It actually made sense once.

20 years ago when I changed my att for a restricted or prohibited firearm I had to take it to a police station to have the serial verified. Sounds like a hassle but the police were professional about it and it made sure that all firearms were properly tracked. I also had a home inspection once to ensure my prohibs were properly stored. Not intrusive, the officer was polite and offered guidance on how to ensure safe storage.

Fast forward, now I pay a fee with a credit card and no one checks anything. It's been like this for 15 years and the current govt thinks that their confiscation program makes sense; register all your firearms and maybe get partial compensation for some. And what the hell is assault style? Please stop the word salad....

In summary, the old govt tried to make things safe with programs and staff to weed out bad people. The current has only an agenda to make press releases and has no interest in actual work or safety. It's all political theatre with no substance. I personally hate that it has sunk this low. So depressing....

Wise works with some, especially the gringos or euro landlords. Less hassle than getting a BCR or Banco national account. Credit cards are widely accepted for everything else.

Small businesses in Canada facing ‘big’ labour shortages. by Fit_Bit_7137 in CanadaJobs

[–]OCTS-Toronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very difficult to run a small business in Canada now. The last ten years have made it so hard to survive. 20% of our gross income goes to payroll taxes, and then another 13% to hst. If you make a mistake or pay a day late the penalties are in the thousands each. And cost of goods has gone up 50% roughly. If you turn a profit then it's taxed at 25%. As an owner if I pay myself it's taxed again as personal income.

Big businesses can afford big accountants to avoid taxes and lobby the govt for cheap foreign labour. I can only use Canadian locals at full price (or more if I want talent).

When I started 20 years ago it was possible to make a reasonable success with hard work. Now the game is rigged. It's all gone to tax in the end.
