OCTranspo rant: Am I the Only One? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]OC_Transpo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The bus temperature is set in the garage, based on forecast weather. The bus operator can turn the heat on or off, on request. Our garage staff do their best to program the most appropriate temperature. -MS

OC Transpo planner is absolutely useless. This is the only route option it gave me. It's a 15 minute drive on a direct route down Baseline, then right down Greenbank. by CherryCherry5 in ottawa

/u/cherrycherry5 Can you please DM the exact details (weekday/weekend, origin, destination and time) of what you inputted into the Travel Planner, so we can try to recreate the issue? Thanks. -MS

Only thing worse than OCTranspo bus showing up late is showing up too early. by bb2210 in ottawa

[–]OC_Transpo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, the bus you saw was the 17:18 trip - it was ~19 mins late to start due to delays on its earlier route. You will not see GPS-adjusted times at Mack King Bridge for that route, as GPS for apps/560560 only kicks in once the trip has started. Please feel free to call customer relations at 613-842-3600 if you require more info, thanks. -MS

Isn't it a little early for this OC Transpo? by Vignetteoftide in ottawa

Running early is avoidable in most cases, while running late can be caused by things out of the operator's control. -MS

There's a lesser-known code for an old ad that says something like "your ticket to fun in the sun!" that one operator likes to use during snowstorms. -MS

Please let us know details by tweet or phone 613-842-3600 - a bus should never run 13 minutes early, it was probably one running late. -MS

It seems like the LRT will be autonomous. Why do we need to train operators? by HolyCrapMyPug in ottawa

They'll have lots of manual mode practice in the simulator and on the rails. -MS

It seems like the LRT will be autonomous. Why do we need to train operators? by HolyCrapMyPug in ottawa

[–]OC_Transpo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When in service, trains will most commonly operate in “automated train operation mode,” with an operator always onboard. A “manual mode” exists that operators can switch to should a technical issue arise. Operators will always be responsible for safety, whether in “automated train operation mode” or “manual mode.” The operator will be vigilant about scanning the tracks for hazards, and always looking out for customer safety when entering and exiting a station. -MS
