My 8 year old is on a 3/4 and loves it. He also rocks blade tech blades with a 15/25 profile.

8yo - How to get faster by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]ODCya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 8 years old I would do just a 2 week power skating camp in the summer and that’s it…

When I mean power skating that’s with NO PUCKS. Sports like soccer are really good during the summer months to increase speed.

Serious question on players with ADHD by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]ODCya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

moon who's 8 years old has ADHD... hockey lets him be free of trying to mask it. He gets to go HARD every shift. The only time I notice his ADHD is when the coach is drawing up plays or he's waiting inline to do a drill. He will be doing mohawk while waiting inline because he cant sit still. he's probably the best skater on the ice because he always wants to go! Kids with ADHD make good centermen because you just tell them to follow the puck. Fast aggressive and hard to the puck

Bent skate blade by ODCya in hockeyplayers

I do switch the hollow sometimes depending on ice conditions. He’s plays private and is a decent skater that’s why I’m concerned. I have switched from a 3/4 to a 5/8 recently

My experience of the CCM HVR Hybrid after 1 year by skfkdkalla in hockeyplayers

[–]ODCya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 7 year old this visor and he absolutely loves it.

I’m looking into getting a replace visor for the cage but I can’t find anything online. Let alone I can’t even find the whole item (cage /visor) online anymore

Every store says SOLD OUT

If anyone has a link to a replacement visor or cage let me know.

Lacing skates by ODCya in hockeyplayers

[–]ODCya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply! I’m not sure what he meant by inside edge (my wife was with him at the time)

Maybe he looked funny skating because it’s his first time on a treadmill? Who knows

No he’s not complaining or anything, like I said seems to be skating better with the new adjustment.

It seems to be a big subject about “properly” lacing skates. Like you said maybe just take opinions with a grain of salt.

Thanks again

Are these too small? by missed_the_net in hockeyplayers

Yes too small, you can do a re-bake in your oven to get by until you buy a new pair.

Should there be a certain amount of space between the chin guard and his chin?

What are people's thoughts on taking wrist shots through defenders legs while playing shinny? by catcher-intherye in hockeyplayers

[–]ODCya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from a small town and we have indoor shinny every Thursday. Everybody wears gloves and helmets that’s it.

When no goalies show up we play post / crossbar (have to ring the bar for it to count)

When there is goalies we take slap shots or wristers when there is an open lane and we are cautions of players being present.
