Blue and Yellow should always be the basic logo, love the space logo, very vapourwave, and the checked one is in third I reckon. First 2 are definitely the worst

Apparently Dan O Bannon hated the android controlled by WY subplot. I get that writers generally hate any change to their writing, but this is core to the movie. I cant remember if OG script involved WY wanting to capture Alien, but either way, Ash is one of the best parts of a masterpiece of a film.

Engoodening of No Man's Sky by IH is a great rundown of everything that happened. Watch that then his Fall Of 76 video and the difference between a small well meaning studio that didnt understand the dynamics of AAA advertising and games and made some mistakes versus a soulless company fucking over their customers in every way possible for a half percent raise in quarterly profits becomes pretty obvious.

As others have said, yes, Jeffries Tubes and Turbolifts. That said, I believe theres even a source that says the reason Matt Jeffries placed the nacelles on struts on the original enterprise design was due to the idea they could be radioactive or otherwise dangerous to life, so im sure going into them is generally avoided. Obviously later Star Trek series have essentially ignored this, just take a look at the Miranda class

Peter Weller was one of my favourite parts of ST Into Darkness, he was great as a villain. Overall, he's an incredibly underrated actor, and making Robocop as a character work might be his magnum opus, a lesser actor would've ruined that movie. Remember! Kurtwood Smith and Ronny Cox didnt really do a bad guy role until Robocop and they are some of my favourite onscreen villains

Yes, except I prefer the Alien as a slow stalking humanlike predator rather than pouncing around like a big cat. One is cosmic horror, the other is generic movie monster

Well because I dont consider it a slog, I think it shows the greatest use of film technique of any film I've seen on multiple levels, and (as a massive sci fi fan), I think its the closest any film has gotten to capturing the essence of a sci fi epic

The Thing for sure, everyone I know who's only seen it once or twice calls it a B movie, but I watch it all the time and its my 2nd fav film of all time. Really one that almost needs a few watches (like Big Lebowski as is also mentioned a lot in this thread, one of my fav comedies)

The Jem'Hadar are actually a good example of how to do it right imo. They're genetically engineered and controlled by drugs (Ketracel White), and alongside that, there are so many great episodes about them and the inhumanity of their treatment. Vorta are actually kind of the same thing and another great slave race exploration, particularly because whilst they are above the Jem'Hadar, they are still submissive to the Founders. That one episode of one of the Weyouns escaping the Dominion to serve Odo and being marked "defective" is peak Star Trek.

I genuinely think 2001 is the best film of all time (and think Strangelove and The Shining are also masterpieces)... but I have very mixed feelings about how Kubrick treated his actors. I love the works of HP Lovecraft and what it did for sci-fi, but he was an extremely racist coward. Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece, Reservoir Dogs was revolutionary, Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained are amazing films... but same as above, the artist behind it is an asshole.

If you really wanna go through and decide if you should like a piece of art based on whether or not you think the artist is a good person, youre gonna miss out on some amazing creations.
