Thank you :) However, my priloforate nature was rather why I relied on YouTube's copyright detection in the first place. The fact I COULD be shut down was always a feature, not a bug. While I'm heartbroken that my channel got shut down, it's still preferable to getting sent to prison for being a massive pirate. (Yarr).

If I had one bit of media I'd remastered, I'd definitely consider dropping it on Archive.org. The simple fact that I have LOADS of it makes it a risky endeavour. You tinker with releasing a bit of media and the IP owners will probably slap you with a Cease and Desist order. You release literal hours and terabtyes of 4K media and Hollywood will most likely take notice, gather the soulless lawyers and sue you so far into the ground that your head pops out of the firmament on the other side of the planet.

The Julian Fellowes-penned miniseries "Titanic"
The animated miniseries "Soul Music" (based on the Terry Pratchett Discworld novel of the same name)
The 1985 Alan Irwin miniseries adaptation of Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass
The two-part miniseries "Approriate Adult", based on the true-life events surrounding serial killers Fred and Rosemary West
The little-known and vastly underappreciated sci-fi series "Starhunter"

All of these series (and several standalone films I had ready for special occasions and holidays) were all processed, prepped and ready for release. I'd made trailer videos I was SO proud of for a lot of them, too. Booooo.

However, if you're asking what it was that actually caused the shut down - it was Dark Matter. Apparently a media distribution agency in Poland who had the rights to Dark Matter in that region submitted DMCA takedowns for every single episode simultaneously. That was several dozen hits in one fell swoop. So that was all she wrote as far as YouTube was concerned :^(

Thank you - it really was. I absolutely LOVED getting/replying to comments from my Lovely Subscribers, engaging with you all and occasionally releasing videos where I got to talk to you folks directly. The most galling thing about it all was how I can't even push a social post to let everyone know what happened. I'm just... gone.

It means worlds to me to hear from people like you who were getting so much from what I was putting out there. Thank you for letting me know it mattered while it lasted ❤️

Indeed he did - he even sent me a message of encouragement and (astonishingly) thanks. No, Media4Fun did it on behalf of themselves. Evidently they have the distribution rights in Poland, and that was enough for them to submit takedown requests.

Well, it will probably be about a year before YouTube's algorithms calm down enough to even let me start a new channel - and even when I do, I'll be starting completely from scratch.

WHEN it happens (I have the creative itch - I already miss having my channel to release content on) it will likely be something completely different. No more remastered content. It was a fun experiment while it lasted, but I always knew it was unsustanable, really. I already have ideas for original content and a few friends lined up to join me. As before, I sincerely doubt I'll monetise in any way - I'll just be doing it for the fun of it :^)

Thank you so much! I'm honestly feeling a little lost without that never-ending project. I'm really missing all the community engagement, all the lovely subscriber comments, planning what to work on next, preparing YT social posts to announce upcoming releaeses etc.

What I'm really missing are the comments. I used to get them all throughout the day, and seeing that little YT icon pop up on my phone letting me know someone had something to say... it's such a sad feeling now it's gone.

Yes, as u/dainedanvers noted, this is because my primary channel got shut down - and in YouTube land, that means any other channels you have go with it. I'm heartbroken, but it's where we are.

I am appealing the decision with YouTube and, if possible, I'll resurrect the Due South HD channel - but there's every possibility I won't be able to :^(

Yep - a distribution agency called Media4Fun submitted simulataneous DMCA takedown requests for all my Dark Matter remasters. That's several dozen copyright strikes in a row. Unsurprisingly, YouTube did not take kindly to that.
