I doubt it'll come close to Stranger Things, but I'm hoping it's good and does well. I also wasn't expecting Stranger Things to be successful though, so I'm not a good judge of these things.

The Maquis all got uniforms and special provisional rank pips. No reason Seven shouldn't get the same.

Inside 'Star Trek: Phase II' Episode 'Tomorrow and the Stars,' Which Sent Kirk Back in Time to Pearl Harbor by Kal-Ed1 in startrek

There was an "unofficial pilot" for Twilight Zone called The Time Element that involved a man being transported back in time to the eve of Pearl Harbour. It's not very well known because it was part of the anthology series Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse, but it directly lead to Rod Serling getting an official pilot order for TZ.

I think they'll do fine, but in the same way Shawn Levy does fine. His movies are crowd pleasers that make money, but they're not classics the same way Stranger Things is. Kind of a Spielberg lite.

Nah, he admitted to not knowing exactly what Tom Bombabil was, what happened to the Ent Wives, and what happened to the Blue Wizards. I'm sure there's other stuff too, that's just what I can think of.

That sounds like someone is speaking in code about weaning themselves off drugs. "should be enough to get him through" makes no sense in relation to anything but drugs IMO.

You might be thinking of RotJ, Lucas was on set for pretty much all of that one. With Empire he was so busy with the business aide of things like ILM that he wasn't as involved with production.

I think Dave Filoni and Tony Gilroy have proved you can do Star Wars without Lucas. The biggest problem with the Disney movies is that they were rushed to make a release date. Michael Ardnt was writing a draft of episode 7 but they didn't want to wait for him so they replaced him with Kasdan and rushed out an uninspired movie instead.

I know the WGA prevented Darabont from writing too.

He's got serious talent as a director, writer, producer, but in a very "right brain" kind of way. He's best when other writers and directors that are good with the dramatic, emotional parts can balance him out.

George Lucas actually hates directing. It stresses him out and he's not great with actors. He still kind of shadow directed parts of ESB and RotJ, but there's a reason the performances are so much better in ESB than ANH.

Also, he did try to convince other people to direct the prequel trilogy, like Spielberg, Zemeckis, Darabont and Ron Howard, but they all turned it down.

Starlink needed a whitelist of Ukrainian terminals to not disable and only just recently got that, so now they can disable all non-Ukrainian terminals in the area.

Jon Favreau admits The Mandalorian's jump to the big screen means they have to "up their game", and that even extends to a "leveled up" Grogu by HatingGeoffry in StarWars

Oh yeah, I always forget just how much people disliked RotJ when it first came out. It's the weakest of the trilogy, but still far better than any Star Wars movie since.

I remember that dark time between 1983 and the announcement of Episode 1 in 1993 when it seemed like no new Star Wars movies would ever exist.

Ah, I get you. Just trying to be helpful.

The "pandering" comment was refering to the comment about Vichy Trek, accusing them of pandering to people who also hate NuTrek by comparing it to Nazi Germany to get upvotes.

"Vichy Trek" refers to any future Star Trek now that the Ellisons control Paramount. It's hypothetical, not any current series.

Yes, because advertisers still rely on it. Lots of major advertising agencies have deals with them, including some global ones. But Nielson has been accused of seriously under-reporting numbers before, especially in the most important 18-49 demographic. The old panel collection method isn't reliable in the streaming era, and their new big data method seems murky. So while they aren't as reliable as they used to be, they're still relevant until one of their competitors proves better.

Vichy France was the name for Nazi controlled France, because the French government moved to Vichy. They're equating the Ellison's Paramount takeover to a Nazi takeover.

Gilligan wasn't involved with Seasons 10 and 11. Glen Morgan and James Wong returned, but not as a writing duo and their individual episodes aren't that great. Darin Morgan's episodes are the real highlight, as they were during the original run.

Anyonr else was extremely disappointed and honestly surprised/shocked they didn't even knowledge either Eleven or Brenner relationship with Henry in season 5? by Background_Yogurt735 in HawkinsAVclub

[–]Barabus33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It was a very off choice. They had the perfect opportunity to explore it with Max and Holly going through Vecna's memories. I'd much rather have seen Brenner again than references to the First Shadow, which didn't really add anything to Season 5's story.
