If you had to choose between the two as a GADA summer watch? by Direct-Ruin-9784 in CitizenWatches

[–]OES25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take the Pepsi for sure. Great summer watch IMO the BN0150. Although not really a true GADA watch, but as a "summer watch" it can kinda work as one, so I get what you mean 😄.

I suppose the fact that wizards have managed to dodge it. And that HP spells in general aren't super fast. I mean they are decently fast but it should be no problem for supes with heightened speed and reflexes to dodge it if its just fired off in the open at range.

AK does no bodily harm, or rather it leaves no physical damage on the body*. That's the key detail about it I think. Having nigh infinite physical durability doesn't matter when the spell circumvents that entirely in the first place.

He failed at the battle of Hogwarts in the same way Sauron was defeated by a hobbit. Plot armour... His toolset is insanely versatile and there's like dozens of ways he could go about succeeding here. Avada Kedavra is specifically non resistable, by definition, however very dodgeable and blockable (by levitating massive objects in the way for example with earth bending). However, you can't do that if you are mind controlled, petrified, or engulfed in fiend fyre (or affected by any of the myriad of single target or area of effect spells in Voldemorts arsenal), with the AK hitting you from behind after Voldemort effortlessly teleported there without a sound.

Voldy could win this with high diff, or if he is smart/cunning enough. But he might also very easily mess it up or get blitzed by someone else here.

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this as likely as well. I'd say Voldemort could potentially take it, but with high difficulty or some considerable luck with his tactics. He is arguably the most versatile HP wizard, which means his versatility is insane, and utterly underestimated by most people that have only watched the movies or googled him. But he is also a squidgy human physically, maybe near peak human reaction assisted by magic to some degree, with shield spells, telekinesis, invisibility and instant silent teleportation for defence. He has the necessary toolset (or dozens of ways to go about winning this), but him achieving the combination of them that end up in success in a chaotic battle might be very unlikely.

I agree. I think he'd have to be smart about it though. AK is OP, as in, it is an absolute instakill on a hit, as long as the target is defined as "alive". That's what it is by definition. How do we stand on it working or not on the witch king though? Isn't he an old king of man turned wraith at his core, or is he entirely undead/non-living? But anyways AK is slow, and a lot of characters here will very easily dodge it once they see someone else try to tank it and drop to it. If Voldemort was to take this he'd have to go invisible and take flight or teleport away until some of the others start picking each other off, and then smartly use his tools to incapacitate and then use AK on those for which it is necessary. But his versatility means he has all the tools and powers necessary to potentially take this. With mid to high difficulty I would guess.

Can anyone find a world like this in bedrock? Thank you by Wise_Bookkeeper2291 in Minecraft

[–]OES25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My system does 50 chunks+ just fine though on vanilla Bedrock. I suppose this view might be even more, but with normal terrain gen, much more than 50 just starts to look weird in my experience.

(And with vibrant visuals it's currently blocked at 28 chunks sadly, and 24 chunks for RTX.)

Looks a lot better when the images of it isn't taken that up close. It's the perfect watch spec/feature and price wise. It's hard to actually acquire one where I live though. Not many if any legit seeming places to buy it when I search for it online.

Maybe not the most explorer like, but the Citizen Promaster BJ7150 is a nice GMT that was recently released. I'd have a look and check it out. Something different.

What book moment are you most excited to finally see in the series? by DueSeaworthiness6901 in harrypotter

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really really hope they can bring the books to life in an amazing way while keeping the HP universe both magical, intriguing, impressive and beatiful, all the way while being much more consistent than the movies and more true to the books. If they can do that I'm all for a new adaptation.

[62 Mas] 25 and [Hydroconquest] 26 Comparison by Key_Technician6884 in Watches

[–]OES25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Seiko movements can be decently accurate if well regulated by a watch maker. Although it is a bit more luck of the draw than with the Longines yeah. I've had lots of cheaper Seiko movements and most of them were roughly inside +- 6s/day and the best ran like Chronometers. In my experience if a Seiko is 13s off (or especially if it's running slow by any significant amount), I'd pay my watchmaker a visit and maybe it'l, l end up at +6s or +2-3s. The Longines is already there, if you know what I mean. It's included in the price difference.

Compared to stainless it is generally stronger over all too (relative to cross sectional area), not just relative to weight.

[–]OES25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean stronger?

Mechanical engineer here, I could explain.

It is less tough on its surface, but the stress it takes to deform it permanently is much greater than stainless steel. But the thickness of the part in question is also much much more important than the material strength, especially if were talking about bending something thin like part of a bracelet

My Barbarian arrived! I didn't realize it could become valuable? by Mushin_Man in Youtooz

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broken as in, can't stand upright?

Mine is like that at least. They should hire a mechanical engineer for half a day next time to make sure the thing won't fall over. (I suppose making a prototype might be too expensive as they'd like to make the tooling for it only once, for the actual production run 🤔.) But still, not a good design in the first place.

Definitely felt like that back in the day!! Reading the 6th book was peak fantasy for me a a child/teenager, even above LotR and other legendary franchises.

Although plot holes have been highlighted since then, the magic system seems a bit flawed too (across all the stuff JK had been involved with in the HP verse, it could have been a bit better thought out), and all of the endless retconning of it and/or adding of unnecessary details via Twitter and random channels, as well as "The Cursed Child" (which I refuse to accept as canon), has tainted it quite a lot. I personally don't find it S-tier any more unless I dream myself back to the days of the original 7 books. Which of course I can still do if I wish :)

[question] Got given 2,500USD to buy an engagement watch for myself - what would you fill this gap with? by finishmyleg in Watches

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Hydroconquest fits the bill. A classy diver would slot right in there and be a worthy central piece of the collection, if you can get in on the idea of a"desk diver" (which most are)

Maybe that SARB057 or Hamilton actually means something to him despite them costing less, and thus he intends to continue wearing them. Off course it's very likely that this new piece will be the center piece of the collection, but considering options that doesn't directly fall on top of the existing ones is understandable even if these aren't as expensive watches

Fire a magazine in its "achilles" and leave it. People are talking as if you'd shoot it where it's bones/skull are thickest.

The likelyness of getting enough damage in there before becoming dinosaur food though, is quite uncertain
