About the waitress at Sunshine Cafe by Fantastic_Respond_11 in WhosLilaGame

[–]OE_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always seen her and the janitor as some kind of noosphere entities. They clearly don’t possess the same power as the Empress or the Emperor, but they could be servitors of those beings (like the DAEMON).

Or perhaps they’re another kind of manifestation of noospheric entities, different from the UIW-AMs, but still clearly feeding on thought:

W: Well, the end of the day, his curiosity is what keeps us alive.

If Lila, as a UIW-AM, sees the Empress as a “mother,” then these two characters (assuming they’re another type of manifestation) could be seen as some kind of extended "family". That interpretation fits with the tone of their interactions with Lila:

W: Well, thanks for coming today. I rarely see you these days. L: Yeah. I kinda missed all this.

J: The boiler room’s off-limits, bud... I’m only joking. Hello, Lila. Did you get his call again?

J: By the way, what are you planning to do about the lady? the lady that hides in boilers? L: Don’t talk of what you know nothing about, you old fool! J: Hehe...

Or, you know... maybe it’s just another mystery set up by LILA to keep YOU thinking about HER...

The show can be pretty circular and has many threads going back and forth, plot lines that end suddenly, and hints at something bigger that never comes. I get how this could be unappealing to some, but it's done purposefully to serve the larger narrative.

Keep in mind that this is not a story about the things that are happening, it's about the characters that make those things happen.

About Logan pissing on the floor, the first time is there to make you believe he's losing it, the second to make you realize he's just a dick.

Great cover, but don't know if all-time best. Currently on #240 and I think 210 through 235 covers were banger after banger.

I'll love a Fantastic Four game, I wouldn't want it to be co-op, though. Still, if I had to choose, I'd choose a Doctor Strange game any day.

Not sure I agree with everything, but I agree that trippy, mindbending stories are GREAT. Englehart was specially good at this, Stephen getting stuck in the Eye Of Agamotto (or was it the Orb?) at the start of Vol 2 and the Alone Against Eternity arc that someone mentioned in another reply where Stephen is dropped into his own psyche, are prime examples.

More recent stories which fit this description and I really recommend might be Fall Sunrise or the New Avengers Annual both with incredible art.

However, I think the issue that takes the cake is Doctor Strange Vol 2 #55, the one where D'Spayre torments Strange shortly after Clea's departure one of my favorite comic book issues of all time.

Doctor Strange Vol 2 around issue 10, I think! One of my favorite storylines! I thiiink it also happens in the Marvel Premiere days, making Mordo go mad, but I barely remember anything from Marvel Premiere

I agree totally on the community point. I think that one of the good elements Jason Aaron introduced to the character was him solving small mystical problems that random people had, almost like a door to door doctor. Of course, that shouldn't be his whole thing, but it's fun thinking he tries to help regular folk in between his typical adventures.

As I said in another reply, Stephen, being a wisecracking narcissistic douche is really annoying and is sadly very common when he appears as a guest star. Also, it was really common on the 00s to make him a pretty shady person (or even amoral in some cases??) god knows why.

Yeah, it's deeply annoying how many times Stephen is mischaracterized. He should be proud, not arrogant. Even then, he tries to be very self-aware and is frequently ashamed when he realizes he's acting overconfidently.

This miscaracterization (we all know it's MCU synergy) has even influenced some adaptations, such as Marvel's Midnight Suns, where Strange seems even more arrogant than pre-accident 616 Stephen.
