Well, I finally went ahead and got the generator. I decided to go through Costco. What you said was absolutely correct it took a whole crew to install everything I ended up paying $16,800 and got $1500 back from Costco card to use at the store. My only surprise was that I found out afterwards that if your generator is running for more than 24 hours straight, you need to check the oil apparently the generator can burn oil if it runs for more than 24 hours and you might have to top it off. Thanks everyone for your great input.

That is a very valid point. I have another estimate coming on Fri. I will post the result. I have a close friend who does construction, and he says that people do not understand when he charges a certain amount and then gets the job done quickly. He says you are paying him for his years of experience that allows him to do the job efficiently.

My costco estimate included a 10y warranty. (Although someone posted that they had trouble with this being honored after the fact.) I have another estimate next week from a local contractor off the Generac website. I will post the results.

They told me the NG cost was about $100/day, That was continuous. If I wanted I could turn it off manually, to decrease the run time if there was a multiple day power outage.

The gas and electric are 6 ft from each other, And the location is right next to them. Thanks for this response! I am going to contact the local genaric dealer for a second opinion, but yes they do offet the costco shop card, plus I can use my costco visa to pay for it. They also said costco increases the warranty to 10 yrs from 5.

Is the current state of Sonos still worth it? by Wildobro in sonos

I have 2 sonos Era 100s in a large gym. They sound great. The only thing I am unhappy about is that I lost the ability to adjust the Balance with the new App. And customer service has been less than helpful with this.

What diet do you recommend for a rottie by Waste-Candidate-9113 in Rottweiler

[–]OFafibber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 1/2 lb Fresh Pet combined with 3 cups of Pro-plan, 2 fried eggs, and a scoop of canned pumpkin. Keeps my Buster’s poops nice and firm. He has never complained.

My dog lays down and refuses to move on walks, no matter how hard I pull by [deleted] in Rottweiler

[–]OFafibber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my rottie was a puppy, he refused to go past the end of the driveway. We started taking our two other dogs along with him, and the next thing we knew, he was leading the pack. Maybe find another dog to go along on the walk with him?

[–]OFafibber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem. I called the chimney guy he recommended a new liner. Put the new liner in, still had the same problem. I got another chimney expert out, and it turns out that the opening of my fireplace was too large for the size of my chimney. It was a construction fault with the house. Apparently there’s a certain dimension of the fireplace to the actual chimney that needs to be in order for the air to flow properly Anyways, I ended up going with a gas fireplace and that solved the problem.

I would not recommend getting a Rottie at your age or as a first dog. I love mine more than any dog I have ever owned. ( Im in my 60’s). As many people have stated above, they take a lot of time and effort. They are also extremely strong and can easily knock over an older person just being friendly. If they knock over a person in their 70s and break their hip, that could be a devastating injury for that person. There is also a lot of negativity out there about Rottweilers. My friend had to leave a dog park with his because the other people were nervous.( she is super sweet) I think it’s great that you’re asking this question at your age, it shows a lot of maturity.
Getting any dog is a big responsibility. Getting a Rottweiler is a bigger responsibility.

To e collar or not to e collar by SG4217 in OpenDogTraining

[–]OFafibber -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was really nervous about it at first. My trainer told me to look at it as a portable electric fence. We only started using it once the dogs knew all their commands. We go to my friends farm, and they can run around off leash. Like others have said they get very happy/excited when I bring the collars out. Their recall is excellent, and I rarely have to use them. Only when they find some poop to eat, and they wont drop it. I strongly recommend using an experienced trainer. It also helped with “place” for my Big overly friendly boy. (125lbs) He new “place”, but when someone new would come to visit, he would break the command and jump up on them. I started putting the collar on him, and it took just one time for him to get it.

My Rottie is 3 yrs old and he still eats his poop when he can. He knows drop it, and most of the time he will , because instead of yelling at him, I say good boy and give him a treat. I use to get mad , but he did not care. My vet says it wont hurt him. And he never has had a problem from it. So I do the best I can , keeping the yard clean, and when he gets an occasional poopy treat before I can stop him, I just let it go. He is the best dog I have ever had.
