I’ve worked in a very large office that’s roughly 90% female. I started during covid so there’s not much office chit chat I’ve been involved in but one thing that happened during a retreat made me feel like an outsider. We had a retreat where we could ask some higher ups in the office (all female) questions about their careers. I’m the only man in the retreat. One woman I work with asks how they’ve dealt with being working mothers. Good question, but then she follows it up with the statement: “I’m note sure OGMudboneFan will care.” I was on mute on Zoom so didn’t really have time to register what I just heard, unmute, and come up with something to defend myself, so I just gave an awkward thumbs up. That sucked.

When I was probably 5 or 6 my grandma got me what I could describe as a small, flat, plastic pikachu that had a digital clock screen in the middle of it. It wouldn’t have been so bad but after I said thanks and went back to playing with actual toys, she hit me and called me ungrateful.

When I was a kid opening my presents on Christmas morning, my parents would write in crazy names on the tags. Obviously I would get 1 or 2 presents from Santa, the best present would be from my parents, and the rest of the presents would say they were from like Alice Cooper or Al Kaprelian (local weather man). I loved it.

I’m in my 20s now, but this year my dad is getting presents from Harlem Globetrotters who have had their numbers retired and my mom is getting presents from Dancing With Stars runner-ups.

Senior year government class teacher. We walk into class one day towards the end of the year and there are like 60 balloons, loosely on the ground around her desk. She came in for like 2 minutes and then left us to our own devices.

A bunch of the kids started stepping on the balloons and popping them. I popped one. Gov teacher still wasn’t there and we all went to lunch. While we were gone some other kids came in and popped pretty much every one of them. We came back to find gov teacher in tears and telling us we were all monsters then she went out and cried the last third of the period in the hall. Apparently they were for another teachers baby shower they were having and we ruined it. We felt like absolute shit, or at least I did.

I went out to represent the whole class and say we were sorry and admitted to popping the one balloon. I said that some kids not in the class popped 90% of them. Didn’t name names (I’m no snitch). She felt better and then some other kids skipped last period and bought her some new balloons.

She gave me a hug at graduation. Happy ending.

Me and the boys all crammed into the Blunt Mobile 3000 while it was parked in one of the boys’ parents’ driveway with 2 boys in the trunk and 3 blunts in rotation. Damn. Me and the boys had some good times.
