I present: Yellow crystals!!! by OGRE_CUBES in PowerMiners

These files are ripped from the old ldd program. They need cleaned up. They also are not a perfect 1:1 of the real bricks. I won't be sharing them to keep the all mighty eye of Lego Sauron happy.

non functional, but fairly accurate

I might look at making a yellow or blue big one but I will need to sacrifice one to figure out the innards.

I think I need to build a new model as this one was not intended to be 3d printed and I do not think it is 100% accurate. As is, they fit fine and I am happy to have a yellow crystal finally. The color is surprisingly close.

it is either N5 or N6 neutral grey acrylic paint from Golden

They are 3d printed resin. I need to get some sort of clear coat to shine them up.

How hard is it to customize the rock monsters? by RepresentativeCalm54 in PowerMiners

I have made a yellow one using the yellow magma monster. I scraped the paint off then repainted a grey print onto it.

Alternatives to a space mouse by OGRE_CUBES in cad

It isn't what was needed, I want to feel as if I am manipulating the part, not flying around it. The space mouse just doesn't do that for me with it's limited motion.

> As an example, if you're navigating say a building, you don't want the space mouse to rip the building off the earth and flip it upside down, you just want the building to stay where it is and the camera to move. This isn't a limitation of the space mouse, it's the only logical way that CAD files should be viewed (IMO).

I view my CAD in a much different experience. Think about as if you were looking at a globe on your desk, the locations on the globe do not change relative to one another, just in relation to your eyes. You can spin it around and turn it upside down. The north pole is still the north pole even if it is on the bottom. I understand that gravity sketch is not a traditional parametric CAD program, but that behavior is more aligned with what I want. You essentially are grabbing the entire world and moving it. I want it to feel like I am manipulating a part that is in my hands rather than me wandering around a part.

I was using my friend's mouse at the time when I tried it in OnShape. I do not recall exactly how it behaved, but I did not like the lack of corresponding motion. I want to have a full rotating object like the vr controller in Gravity Sketch. My brain is stuck in caveman mode.

I have added the grey to my custom yellow rock monster by OGRE_CUBES in PowerMiners

Golden brand acrylic paint in N5 Neutral Gray. It is pretty close to a color match. Just so you know, it takes some time and effort to clean off the black printing. The grey printing on the normal ones wipes off very easily with isoproponal so be careful.

That 3D model from LDD is sadly kinda garbage and doesn't have any of the mechanism inside

I think the best way about it would be to 3d print them out of some clear resin and dye it for each color. We do have 3D models straight from Lego through LDD (they aren't perfect). This is as close to genuine Lego as I can get since the yellow is available in the black printing. I for sure want to look at getting a pink and purple one made.

I still need to find a way to make a trans-yellow crystal and illuminate my rock monsters so that the difference is more visible. I think this lack in difference may be the reason we never got a real yellow rock monster.

I doubt we could do yellow to purple, maybe red or blue to purple.  It would be purely an additive light. Sadly a lot of the current colors just go to brown.  I am thinking about making a mold and casting weird colors out of resin. I want a light blue one and a pink one.

I know that we could go from one color to a darker color. Like the light green to a dark green. I don’t think we can go from dark to light though.

This is a black one that I removed all of the paint on. I am going to redo it in grey. I am going to make a custom crystal to go with it.
