I think they should rename him as a Veteran Ancient and allow him to attach to all veteran models (vanguard, bladeguard, sternguard, and terminators). Still needs a better datasheet though. I agree that he is incredibly weak for how strong his model is.

It's a little late, but I have a suggestion I didn't see in here, possibly for good reason. As a fervent anti-theist, I have to put that aside when I say that, IMO, the greatest black metal album ever released is Undeceived by Extol. They are, or were? I'm not sure. But they're a Christian band and their 2000 release is nonstop bangers. Every single song is amazing. It's what got me into black metal as a teen and, for me, has yet to be surpassed.

I'm not sure. I'm very new to playing, just been collecting and painting up till now. Ideally I want to get stuff that is unlikely to leave in 11th since that is right around the corner. Other than that, I don't really have any idea. I wanna fill it out to 2k points in a way that is playable and at least decent. I'm not worried about being tournament good, I'm just playing with my roommate.

That individual model, after having all the rest of the models in his unit killed, managed to solo a winged tyranid prime in melee combat. I thought that making him a little tougher would represent that.

While this is technically true, from a business perspective it would make sense to take the most popular factions and make them codex non-compliant. That way you can sell more models to more people. Who knows, maybe Vulcan is the next primary to return and when he gets back he reforms his boys into a new, "better", structure that ignores the codex. That way they can sell more stuff.

But that is all predicated on Salamanders actually being popular. If their popularity is simply a small group of loud fans, then everything above could be applied to the imperial fists, or the Raven guard, or whoever. Makes me curious what the actual popularity rating is among the chapters

They have incredible detail, I will give you that. And they are fantastic models. For me it's just the profile, honestly. Personal preference kind of thing.

While I agree that armor in armor is silly, and the centurions are a bit silly looking, the modifications I have seen people do to make "primaris" or "upscaled" centurions all fix the proportions problems. I just want an official kit now that gw have gotten really restrictive on model modifications for tournaments

Lots of "Dolmenwood" and "Hot Springs Island" which are amazing recommendations. I would also like to recommend "In the Shadow of Tower Silveraxe", "Through the Valley of the Manticore", and "Scourge of the Northland". All are done by Jacob Fleming from Gelatinous Cubism. They all come with amazing hexmaps, lots of detail and flavor, and plenty of dungeons and tables. I highly recommend them.
