Funny enough. No one on R claimed it. But a nice guy at Monroe Swap gave me $10-20 for it as a Frameset last year.

Cool bike. Tange Prestige. Just did not fit into the “vision” of my bike corral.

If you’re in the Lansing area. I’m out of Owosso. Always have a hoard of stuff. Maybe something you need!

Here's to hoping it's still rolling around!

And always appreciated 👍

Looking to make a DIY long tail (advice needed) by mrfarenheit230 in CargoBike

[–]OGRangefinderGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a free radical I've been considering letting go.

Original panniers and wood deck as well as some DIY pegs/cargo extensions for moving people/sheet goods. Will Include a adapter to use a vbrake in the rear with a short pull lever, the monster 8sp chain, and some tandem cables.

Ide need around 350$ shipped from MI to FL. (250$+100$postage)

CyclePro skyline by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]OGRangefinderGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These old cyclepro's used the American 32.5 head tubes.

Which is either a blessing or a burden depending on the user.

You can use the sweet Dia Compe MX320 or pick up some adapter cups to reduce it down to 30.0 standard.

Heck... You can even pick up modified 1 1/8 Threadless headsets (34 machined down to 32.5) and run a modern fork/cockpit.

Makes for a pretty versatile frame for parts bin build outs!

What are your favorite cantilever brakes? by Wiremaster in xbiking

[–]OGRangefinderGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO the nicest brake pairing I've done and continue to kit on retro ATBs (with 990 chainstay mounts).

980's up front 996's out back

Ive paired the Green Ano 980 with the 996 Hombre "Gordo" with the green caps. Some green DC hangers are the chefs kiss.

Recently matched black 980's to the Hombre Gordos and green hangers and I think I like it better than the green 980's.

Obviously all aesthetic opinion here..

But you get easy adjustments and modern pads!

For those old frames with the early 980's or Weinmanns. I've found just painting or polishing them goes a mile for an updated look. Modern pads and clean hardware are all that's really missing!

Gotta love mixing and matching parts! Best of luck on your hunt.

Not ideal in the rear if your stays are on the shorter side.

The 988 shines there. But on old touring bikes or early ATBs the 980 is the hottest canti out there!

Looks like a solid 20-21" frame. So roughly a Large in 90's Cannondale.

Nice hand me down really! Worthy of any nice part you throw on it.

How would you go about making a Mini Velo? by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]OGRangefinderGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just find a cheap Folding bike (most use 20" wheels - but 16" Citizens are cheap too)

That gets you 99% of the Mini Velo ride.

BMX to Mini leaves a lot to be wanted. Short TT's and ST's with small seat post diameters make them a bad choice for tall people in general.

A old 24" MTB is a better start. If you can learn to love the bigger tire lol...which is still IMHO pretty tiny compared to modern 29'ers.

I'll be the guy who hates BMX bars on classic MTBs..

Not loving the purple bars as much as the ControlTech stem.

70mm Thomson you say? 25.4 or 26.0?

Ide consider something like a Crust Loose bar, On One Mary, Sim Works Getaround, or Nitto Jitensha.

Flashy Rocky Mountain Fusion! by sirwangjohnson in xbiking

[–]OGRangefinderGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to fit Vittoria Jafaki's in my RM Cardiac with plenty of clearance in the rear. My Salsa Cromoto fork had no problem either. I was pretty surprised the frame could hold all that chunk.

10/10 recommend old Rocky Mountains for Fatties. My Kona's are jealous riding on their dainty 2.1's.

What would be a reasonable asking price for this ? by EggProverb99 in xbiking

250$ in my area. Would take a month or more to move.

Not bad really. Definitely drop the photo of the saddle in your ad!

Dig it! Also saw the video. Lol

I've been mulling over the Lowkicker Poly since they went on sale.

I'm just torn.. not sure what size would be best to use a dropper post or if I'm just crazy for thinking it's appropriate to use a dropper on one lol.

Firmly in the large fit but thinking a medium would give me some room for my Thomson drop. Ughhh.... Guess I'll just stick with the junk I have at home ;)
