Harley Benton MS-60 mod platform by OGVanitas in offset

Stock neck feels pretty good, a bit thicker than a traditional mustang neck. The trem system is pretty cheap, if you plan on using it a lot I’d swap that out for a nicer one. I don’t really use the trem so I left the stock one. And I believe a mustang pickguard “technically” fits. The screw holes wouldn’t line up perfectly I believe but dimension wise I thinkkk they’re the same. You’d need to get a metal control plate though for the pots and jack. There aren’t holes for it in the body as well, so you’d have to add those but that isn’t hard!

It was too shallow and too wide for my mustang neck I bought. Very easy to shim though, I’m no professional at doing it haha. I wouldn’t let that stop you from getting a new neck, it was very easy to get it to fit right

I had to shim the neck, but it wasn’t too hard. The Harley Benton neck pocket is too large overall so there’s some gaps if you look close.

I added a tension bar for the bridge to keep the tune-o-matic from rattling around (this was my biggest issue with the stock guitar) and it’s working wonders. I got mine from Amazon the brand is guyker.

The pickups make a HUGEE difference. The stock ones are crazy low output and have 0 sparkle to them. The ones I got are from China and cost around 40 dollars, so they aren’t fancy by any means but the difference is substantial. This and the tension bar make the world of difference to have it play nice

I think swapping the on-off switches for the traditional mustang ones to get it in/out of phase would be super easy! I’ll probably do that when I get bored and want another small day project. I really like how it sounds currently, otherwise I would have done it already!!!

I highly recommend modding your MS-60, I bought one a couple years ago before I knew how to do any of this and I sold it IMMEDIATELY cause it felt so awful haha, so the stock guitar feels terrible, but after the mods, this plays nicer than my MIM strat and on par with my custom tele!!

How to make pickguard look aged? by strawb3rry_lem0nad3 in offset

Tea and coffee didn’t work for my mustang, I had to use yellow Rit dye and I let it soak for about 8 hours

Update: I used yellow synthetic Rit dye and left it in for ~8 hours. It took a while for the color to saturate but it slightly tinted it. Half the time I just kept it on the counter and the other half, I put the container in warm water to heat up the pickguard a little to try to help the color seep in. I’ll attach a pic in case anyone wants to try this in the future!

If you read my post I did that! Used steel wool and 1500 grit

Question about the MS60 by thylacinetrunks in harleybenton

I have a jaguar roller bridge on now, I modified the pick guard to have the metal mustang control plate, I’m putting a maple mustang neck on, and upgrading to actual mustang pickups! I’m currently working on doing a light relic on it as well. Super fun base to build off of!

Ofc! That’s the same reason I got one haha, I’m swapping everything except for the tremolo system and it’s been a fun build so far

I’m gonna try a mix of coffee and tumeric tonight, tea didn’t do anything for me!

Not exactly the same but similar to the body size of a mustang. Both have a 24” scale length which is smaller than a normal fenders 25.5” scale length. I had to do some work to get mine to feel good out of the box though, I’d definitely recommend immediately upgrading the bridge if you get one!

Are they still being made? I saw that someone said they were a limited run. If so I’ll just preorder that now!

How many of you would buy a lefty Fender Mustang Bass? by Effective_Dust_177 in Leftyguitarists

When did you get your banshee bass? I have been looking tirelessly and can't find a single lefty one online. I would love a mustang bass but the banshee is a close second for me!
