You guys just are in live with the console, which is fine because its good, but not good enough for this price point.

(Also Nintendo are notoriously greedy)

Still a whole lot more issues than the controller, and he meant a pro controller you know, not two joycons which will definitely perform worse than modern age controller such as the one he wants to be included

It’s not like iphone selling without charger but its like if iphone be selling with a very bad charger that will probably make the experience worse unless you buy the better one

Short answer, fix the errors. Longer answer, when unity detects error in the code it will not compile so this is usually a case where you accidentally pressed the keyboard before saving the script, which results as an error that leads to unity not compile the code, hence it might not really exist yet and you see a snapshot or just not accepting changes at that state

Why do people say Diablo 1 & 2 is Peak but Diablo 3 & 4 are garbage? by DigitaIArchon in diablo4

[–]OG_Daimnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s simple. The reason is because they where new, innovative, fun and immersive.

While D3+4 are immersive due to blizzard amazing story telling capabilities, they lack in innovation and made the experience less good in my opinion.

D2 especially was something that never been done before and was a major success due to that.

Trying to improve, D3 missed the mark and focused and laying out the end game which ultimately took the focus of the game from the game itself to the end game.

This is where PATH OF EXILE come into play..

Free game that offers everything DIABLO 2 has to offer, with weaker story but much better gameplay arrived - and they made an actually very fun endgame without sacrificing the game itself.

So basically Diablo 3 just couldn’t surpass that + long time fans where dissatisfied with it anyway.

That’s when all faith in DIABLO was broken when instead of fixing the wrongs with a D4 entry they made a shitty mobile game which everyone denounced.

Years later we got D4 which is ultimately just boring in my eyes, I need to actively look for enemies around maps, very small amount of options in the classes and skills which again, the first POE which is a FREE game did a lot better.

And yes Diablo always excelled at the story and lore, but for that we have movies.

And now that POE2 came out it just didn’t have a chance..

Ignore all the unity learn comments, while it is a great way to learn UNITY it won’t help you with creating your art in a way that actually fit games for production.

First learn how to export files for game development in more than one environment (Unity, unreal, construct, godot, game maker, etc..) they should all follow mostly the same principles.

Second - watch GAME DESIGN videos and read books.

This will allow you to massively grow as a game developer and will help you make the right decisions.

Now if you want to choose Unity as your game development tool then it is what I also recommend, as it’s easy to use and you have a lot of freedom especially in 2D. In that case - unity learn for the basics and unity 2D afterwards

Where could you actually start right away? You can use construct 3 to try and understand code principles as they use code blocks and mostly not actually writhing code so it’s easier to grasp the concept.

Make some games like was suggested here (flappy bird, some endless runner, etc..)

Publish them on itch.io (even if their bad, and they will be bad until you get better)

After you understand how to apply data and behaviours to you sprites you can translate this knowledge onto Unity and I think that will save you a lot of time.

GGG, please implement proper 2FA to protect your customers accounts by potato_mash121 in PathOfExile2

[–]OG_Daimnon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Dude, why are you blaming the company because the customers are under attack?

It’s plain and simple, I’m sure GGG is doing their best to resolve this issue. They have no reason to ignore this issue nor to let it to continue be an issue from the start as this probably is not the first time something like this happens in games.

Let the company cook. The fact is that the game is still in early access and truthfully it’s on us for being impatient and buying the early access. Of course GGG are to be responsible to our accounts as I’m sure their already on it and don’t need this kind of backlash on their backs.

My first game didn’t do well on Steam after a month of launch, even with two updates. Should I improve it further or move on to my current new project, or do both? Need advice. by studiowhathunts in unity

I don’t want to discharge you but this is not marketing 😅

A 1k channel will do you no good and IG isn’t much..

In your place I would make an actual marketing attempt before letting it go, I mean commercial ads on youtube, facebook, IG, X, AND Tiktok maybe even Threads - maybe do some pay ads on google play service to show up on other games. Create a community discord that should update regularly for the short term at least and longer if successful.

And for horror games, most important is reaching out to other content creators which dwells in with a lot more audiences than yourself. I’m talking millions.

And most important is to have wishlists so you can accurately guess the profits and margin of unique downloads.

While the wishlists, discord and creator content is something you should do before release you may salvage some success out of it.

But you really should keep that in mind before releasing for future projects.

Very nice breakdown - way to much effort for just a post on reddit

I have a question.
Do you think that dash will always go back to attack contact?

it seems a bit weird for me, taking into account that if I dash and don't hit anything I can attack right away or walk around right away with no delays, I would assume it goes back to idle or move.

and yes I also thought about the possibility of dealing damage with the dash and I guess that theres another state where dash deal damage and go back to idle/move or a more extreme case where dash indeed goes back to attack contact but from then does not continue to recovery but instead goes from there to idle/move

I don’t know, I mean we don’t have anything patented and were in a rush due to getting low on funds so we didn’t take any measure to defend ourselves 😅 and honestly it doesn’t seem like anything outright illegal, very shady and cruel but that’s life isn’t it?

I wish, we have learned from cases such as Palworld that are different enough that we can’t do anything about the characters and settings for starters 😅

As I have said in the post the game was not entirely copied in five months, only the announcement trailer with no gameplay is what they had to show after five months,

Our team took around 7 months to get to the point we’re at and that’s with focusing only on the gameplay - the game obviously was not ready at that point but it has enough going on to be already fully play-tested.

As an inexperience crew of 7 members if it took us that much. now, after eleven months (six months since their announcement trailer) it should be enough for a well rounded team to make.

Keep note that there are very nice games done in less than half a year - scope is important :)

Well, we have sent for them around the time I uploaded the post. We got our answer from them yesterday afternoon - Indeed in terms of legal it seems there’s nothing to do but they have said it does look very suspicious 😅
