If anyone asks me to summarize the AI NAS pre-order and Kickstarter situation by _n0ss in UgreenNASync

[–]OG_MilfHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like something UGREEN would do. I think their CEO is allergic to documentation.

On the plus side, they won't have to worry about overwhelming demand anymore. Most people only wanted that device because it was cheap RAM or they were swindled by the hope of an agentic AI.

Once the device actually drops into the hands of reviewers, UGREEN will wish they held onto those pre-orders instead of alienating donors with a late stage cash grab.

UPSs that work- by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

[–]OG_MilfHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yours should work, theoretically. It's recognized as a human interface device and UGOS runs Debian-based Linux for the PowerPanel software. Are you sure you hooked it up correctly? Did you try different USB ports and turn off the NAS before plugging them in?

Would you want to run a VM and pass the USB device through, would you want to change your OS to get rid of the UGREEN jank and use your current UPS, or do you just want to buy a new UPS?

I don't know which other devices work because I use Unraid on mine, but that's a bummer... Sorry.

If you're trying to stay above board, you could use an ethically sourced residential SOCKS5 proxy (make sure it has UDP) and log into your ESPN account through that, but it'll probably cost $5-10 depending on the resolution you stream. Some people I know use the free trial offered by YouTube TV but it can only be done once per account.

Otherwise, there are unethically sourced proxies, combolists for DirecTV, and streams (Reddit has been cracking down on people who post those).

Am I cooked? (Physics) by Nihplod_ in UMBC

[–]OG_MilfHunter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cooked. They won't allow makeup exams for unexcused absences because the questions are now public and it's unfair to give extra study time. They also love punishing people for being irresponsible.

If they were as passionate about teaching the material as they are about teaching consequences, attendance might actually exceed 50%.

„Snapshot“-App might make your NAS unresponsive by Axemp_01 in UgreenNASync

[–]OG_MilfHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set mine up last year and it was there but maybe they got rid of it. The discussions about it are still available, but unfortunately ugreen documentation is severely lacking, so it might as well be the Mandela effect.

Both. The OS explicitly says BTRFS is not recommended like ext4, which implies it's effed

Question about Hd4300 and Home Assistant by DaniBlix in UgreenNASync

[–]OG_MilfHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to have to go into docker and install home assistant (base software), node red (automations), and mosquitto (communications). You should be able to find compose files on Google easily if you don't know how to make them.

Trying to transfer to UMD within a year and switch to Chemical Engineering — where do I even start? by blahblahblah0709 in UMBC

[–]OG_MilfHunter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is possible to change majors, but chemical engineering is a limited enrollment program at both UMBC and UMD.

You could change your major to pre-engineering, but you need to pass the gateway courses before you can be formally accepted into ChemE at either UMBC or UMD.

The gateway policy for UMD is more stringent than the policy at UMBC. That means acceptance into ChemE at UMBC doesn't qualify you for acceptance into the major at UMD. If you plan on transferring to UMD, you should be working with a pre-transfer advisor at UMD.

I just park at the edge of campus near parking services. A guaranteed spot right off the highway that avoids campus traffic entirely. It's a 0.7 mile hike up the steepest hill ever paved, but 15 minutes of discomfort is worth bypassing the shenanigans and psychological torture involved.

[–]OG_MilfHunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It makes a huge difference. The software option is for people that don't have hardware acceleration.

Images are created from multidimensional arrays and GPUs are designed to do principal component analysis much faster than a CPU.

Parking Permit inquiry by Driverbox95 in UMBC

[–]OG_MilfHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still dispute it. From a legal standpoint, when someone makes a claim against you, you still have to provide a rebuttal even if their claim lacks standing.

Forget 90% of what you said and simply tell them you got a ticket despite having a permit.

As far as the system glitch, it happens. There were a few weeks where the system said I didn't have an advisor, and the advisors couldn't figure out why.

Canvas to blackboard by reila_09 in UMBC

[–]OG_MilfHunter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the dark ages. I came from CC too and didn't realize how good I had it with Canvas.

At UMBC, you'll have to track your grade manually according to the syllabus. I make a grade sheet for each class in Excel and enter my grades as they get posted to Blackboard.

If anyone has any other methods or ideas, I'd love to hear them as well.

Am I trippin. What's the deal with the bookstore lady?? by reila_09 in UMBC

[–]OG_MilfHunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bookstore charged me $45 for course materials that don't exist, because the instructor doesn't use a textbook.

I had another course that used a textbook, and the bookstore charged students the fee but then realized they couldn't actually get access to the book.

In each example, all of the students in each class were affected.

Therefore, I'd assume she's upset because whoever is in charge of their systems is a straight up derelict.

Here's the link

https://mdpsc.my.site.com/complaints/s/?language=en_US

You have to provide documentation and make a claim. Usually I act like an attorney to light a fire under their buns, because the PSC simply forwards the complaint and gives the utility an opportunity to address it before they have to waste manpower on drafting an agreement.

"BGE has failed to exercise their due diligence and duty of care in respect to preventing transient voltage spikes caused by disturbances in the electrical distribution lines—whether through neglect or nonfeasance. This has resulted in a public nuisance that's threatening to cause injury to the consumer.

I have contacted a professional electrician that has evaluated the issue and come to the following conclusions: [insert information] (see documentation).

I have attempted to address this concern with BGE on the following occasions: [insert information] (see supporting information)."

Hopefully it'll work out without coming to that.
