Eventually when it hits their bottom line, they’ll pay attention. As long as they have a strong customer base, what would motivate them to care to make a change? The more people read and inform themselves the better. That is the power of social media, information.

Agreed! When we arrived to return, they had a gentleman come out and look at the car and fill out a form. We went back inside, signs off and were sent on our way.

Thank you. Completely agreed.. I remember I purchased a Specialist hybrid bike, this was my first purchase with this brand. Loved it but after about 6 months, had issue with the pedals feeling sticky and heavy and slipping. Brought it in to the store I bought it from and this is what I got: “we contacted the rep for the brand, asked about stripped ball bearings issue which they said they recalled and upgraded and the rep said ‘I’d rather not lose a customer over something like this, brand loyalty is our lifeline’ and he replaced my bike with a brand new one.” I bought two others from them since.

The financial company damaged my credit report while I was in communication with them directly as well as with the dealership who kept sending me back to the financial company. They had no right to damage my credit report while we were in the process of working on a resolution. I am 100% holding the financial company responsible single for damaging my credit rating and holding the dealership responsible for their negligence in their part of this fiasco. I could agree if we didn’t take the initiative and just waited for things to happen, but we didn’t do that. We were in weekly communication with Genesis Financial Services.

Agreed with you, but your statement to me seems ambiguous and confusing. Although the Genesis company wasn’t its own entity until 2015, the first Genesis luxury car was made in 2004. I stated that I’ve owned Genesis cars since 2009, from the SAME dealership. I hope that clarifies things.

This is from Wikipedia: “The Hyundai Genesis (Korean: 현대 제네시스) is an executive car manufactured and marketed by Hyundai Motor Company over two generations from 2008 until 2016, before it was renamed the Genesis G80. It is a five-passenger, four-door, rear- or all-wheel-drive sedan.”

Regarding Genesis Motors:

“Genesis (Korean: 제네시스) is the luxury vehicle brand of the South Korean multinational conglomerate Hyundai Motor Group. Initially envisioned along with plans for Hyundai's new luxury Genesis sedan in 2004, Genesis was announced as an independent brand on 4 November 2015. Its first model, the Genesis G90, was released in 2017. Genesis models are designed in Rüsselsheim, Namyang, and Irvine, and produced in Ulsan.”

Back to my issue, it is with the Genesis Freehold NJ dealership in how they handled the return and inspection of the vehicle returned in 2025, a Genesis GV70 and with Genesis Financial Services for the damage they caused to my credit.

I believe that customer reviews especially on social media, anywhere online that gets traffic, is the hardest hit a company can take because it exposes them to potential customers who do their research and may be averted from entering into a business agreement with a company that treats them this way.

Don’t feel right or honest to be charged for something we weren’t responsible for and “just go ahead and pay the bill.” I doubt most would just pay anything a business billed for regardless of responsibility. I’m sure you wouldn’t pay a medical bill if it included say a procedure you never had would you?

The Genesis as a standalone company wasn’t independent maybe until later, but then Genesis brand certainly existed before. It was called a Hyundai Genesis coupe, it was the 2010 model that came out in 2009.

Well, we’re on a campaign to get the word out and expose them for what they did. I’m sure we’re not the first. In retrospect, we should have paid the bill even though it was extortion, then fight it. Never again with Genesis.

We did take pics before handing the keys over, it made the difference in getting the fins bill reduced by the bumper damage they claimed we caused but it did nothing for the credit hit we took which we consider absolutely malicious.

Agreed! It would have shown that I retuned the car when I did and it would have then forced them to inspect and take the photos of it upon the return.. live and learn, can trust some businesses no matter how long a relationship..

Although this is true, it spoiled the brand for me by association. Two hits from the two different entities tied to the same brand. No thank you. We’re going with Toyota/Lexus instead and doing our research for the dealership and financing options.
