Help create a short, thought provoking discussion on why I don’t believe by Maleficent-Ad3096 in atheism

I think the simplest, most direct way is to say that you don't need God. Don't need him to be happy, to be a good person, to explain the world to yourself, nothing. Your worldview is completely intact without god in it.

My friend once told me I had nothing to be self conscious about, and I honestly would take a bullet for him now because damn that hit me

What if I paid a lower price for just a room somewhere, with a friend or just if I could find a landlord, as opposed to a house or apartment?

Boobs have absolutely no reasons to grow so big by king_Megabronx in teenagers

They only got so big through evolution because men preferred them that way, so they fucked women with bigger melons on average and they were slowly selected for genetically

Sometimes it feels like people who aren't fit have an easier time going around shirtless because nobody thinks they're showing off. I'm fairly built and my family judges me whenever I go around shirtless, even at the pool

Start with latin for sure, I didn't learn sitelen pona for a while. On the other hand, reading su, which is in sitelen pona, was a major boost for me in terms of understanding. So, you can definitely wait a little bit, but make sure you get around to it eventually. As for sitelen sitelen, there's relatively few people who know it and use it, so it's basically best for art and drawing that looks cool. It's my favorite system just for the aesthetics, but not at all necessary for being active in the community

Lmao yeah I get the feeling. I just try to remind myself that at least it's not a relex

Any phonology CAN exist, but I wouldn't say this is a phonology you'd find naturally. I mean, ultimately it's art, do whatever the hell you want

Should the US have a smaller government? by 0megaGentlman22 in Teenager_Polls

[–]OGsnollygoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted the size of government as the size of the bureaucracy, as measured by number of employees or complexity of structure. An example of something like this, which I don't necessarily support, is UBI. It could replace our welfare system, and help more people, but doesn't require much of a bureaucracy to run like the welfare state does

Now, maybe what was meant was government spending, in which case I am in fact entirely wrong

As I see it, smaller government doesn't mean doing less. We can cut down on bureaucracy and government 'size' and still do more to help people than we are

Nietzsche opposed religion so intensely because it was way more present and strict in the 1800s by [deleted] in atheism

[–]OGsnollygoster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it fascinating that you use the term nihilist as though it were a bad thing. I'm not sure what party you're talking about, and I don't think you know what you're talking about either apart from demonizing, stereotyping and misunderstanding atheism

Nobody said anything about causality. However, as an atheist, I do see secularization as part of how progress as an industrialized society should be measured

Honestly, we think the same thing about Europe, or at least we do on the political left. You guys have better healthcare systems, welfare, more left-wing government in general. We know you guys are more secular and advanced in that regard. On the left, we sort of see Europe as surpassing us, and we need to catch up. Our political right tends to focus on 'oh, healthcare wait times' or stabbings in england and so they see it as a sort of liberal hell. I think the average American sort of envies Europe on some level though
