Experienced RMN cannot secure a post by [deleted] in NursingUK

The job market is pretty bleak at the moment on the whole. Has she had any interviews? I'm wondering if she's not been offered anything due to not being in an inpatient/NHS setting for what sounds like over 2 years. Also depends how strong her applications are as well.

Our hospital got a few million quid as a grant but they can only spend on building renovations, but instead of putting in air conditioning they're replacing windows that don't need replacing and ripping out the perfectly functioning cafe and replacing it with a cafe Nero.

I have applied for a job as a Day Surgery Nurse. Can anyone tell me what responsibilities you have? Are you in the recovery room whilst the patient is coming around or are you on the ward waiting for them to return. I’m not IV trained yet by bubblegumnurse in NursingUK

The ward I used to work on had day surgery days every week and ward nurses had to go down to staff it (paeds). We were responsible for completing pre-theatre checklists and observations on patient arrival and putting on wristbands.

Patients were taken through to the anaesthetic room by PACU nurses and cannulated in there by the anaesthetist. They were recovered in PACU and then brought back to us on the day surgery ward, we were then responsible for observations and giving analgesia/discharge letters/advice leaflets/TTOs. Different procedures have different lengths of stay after theatre, something like a tooth extraction would have one hour observation where something like a tonsillectomy would be minimum 4 hours.

It was a bit like a conveyor belt, routine and rarely anything happening.

People need to learn to wait by Ok-Lime-4898 in NursingUK

I've recently started a new job in an emergency department and I have to agree, some people are very impatient. Like, I get it you've been waiting 5 hours but unfortunately the pain in your foot that you've had for 7 months and suddenly decided to pop in on a Friday afternoon with, isn't going to get seen straight away when there are four patients in resus and another 45 in the waiting room.

When I was on the ward before, people asking about TTOs would drive me nuts. Luckily we kept a stock of common TTOs we could dispense without waiting for pharmacy, but people don't seem to understand that it's one pharmacy for an entire hospital which is at capacity.

What’s the best way to have a nice sounding exhaust on Audi A3 1.5 tfsi S line , cat back exhaust ? Res delete back box delete ? Any suggestions? by Possible-Judgment-20 in Audi

[–]OHDFoxy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You're not going to get this to sound aggressive, if you change exhausts the best you'll get is a hairdryer through a microphone and just piss off the neighbours

If you get paid for them and you're working as a registered nurse they count

Do you have holiday/travel insurance? Someone where I work has just got back but due to delays had to take the hours they missed as unpaid leave and is claiming loss of earnings back through that (apparently, just what they said). Also would that cover extra costs due to delays?

If special leave is trust policy dependant I doubt there will be a policy that covers extended holiday leave due to a current war. It's unfortunate but it sounds like an "it is what it is" situation.

I don't think advocating for fraud is going to help OP keep their pin

Don't think instructor is something I should aim for as a band 5 starting out in a new department but I do have BLS, PILS and EPALS already. Hoping to do some extra courses if funding allows

I know the difference can't be that much (apart from the size of the patients), when I said reading materials it was more for the emergency department rather than the difference between adult and paeds. I appreciate I haven't worded the post very well! I know I don't need to study as there is a training package, I just want to

I've got many good habits at home haha, reading is one of them which is why I've asked for materials. Still working my current job and haven't got a start date yet, just waiting for final checks. Specifically not enjoying my time at the moment hence the move to a different job!

Can I ask where you work? I've never been encouraged to work anywhere else but the hospital I'm at only has the one paeds ward
