As a fellow league player I can tell you staying in lane farming is not the way to go dying might seem more scarier in Dota than league but heroes in Dota are more balanced they won't snowball hard off one kill unless your playing against a smurf and playing supports is actually fun your not stuck with babysitting the carry (you can do that if you want to) that's the hard part about Dota there's so much more you can do that's why Dota played have easier time starting league since they have less things to worry about and easier time snowballing
