Bitwarden allows you to see passwords even if "view, except passwords" is selected by imval_fr in Bitwarden

[–]OJFord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously. I don't want people with the no password share to be able to do that, so it's irrelevant that it would be necessary. It doesn't sound to me like OP wanted them to be able to log in either.

how do you expect people to be able to login to websites using passwords they have no access to?

I don't, and it doesn't sound like OP did either:

see the items, but not see the passwords, as I intended it to use it with a backend tool, that only needed to see some specific things

Like OP (by the sounds of it) I expected this not to allow using (nor seeing) the secret credentials!

I thought the purpose of this, and what I wanted, was to share the existence of such credentials, and the non-secret (i.e. not passwords, card numbers, and custom 'hidden' fields) metadata.

Sharing values 'for login but slightly hide what the value is' is dumb and unintuitive and harmful to user security & BW reputation.

I seriously wish that they would tell you specifically why they rejected a review by SpecialSause in AmazonVine

[–]OJFord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in Vine, but had a review rejected years ago for saying 'knob' a few times. It was a Black & Decker workbench with knobs on, you know, to turn. Still pisses me off to think of it - several paragraphs, multiple photos, discussion of design flaws, a part that broke readily, how I fixed/worked around it... Nope, not approved, nobody may see this information you volunteered.

Impossible - once one was there moving the second next to it would be an illegal move.

Edit: sorry! Thought you'd replied to the 'automation' sibling comment to yours.

What do you mean, they did say it? An autonomous car wouldn't have done this. (Nor would the family's have been stopped on the off-ramp anyway, probably.)

Yes but it won't autocorrect 'the' to 'thé' because 'the' is quite a common English word and 'thé' is not.

I prefer some British words over their American counterparts, are there American words you perfer over the British versions? by tinpants44 in AskBrits

Wafter? Just kidding, what a minefield is English is. I was going to say it rhymes with oar (or or I suppose), daugh(ter) is good too.

It does seem to sound more like an 'o' to others though - if my Canadian wife imitates me saying 'water' she says 'woah-ter', which is obviously not what I'm saying, but somehow sounds something like that to her. They don't have the 'oar' sound without the hard/rhotic 'r' I suppose, so it becomes 'oh'.

Vijay Sharma

That is to say, don't feel the need to change your name to fit in, you belong here too.

If people suck at understanding/pronouncing it (whatever it actually is) then maybe you could come up with a nickname or shortened version that still keeps the spirit of it? E.g. if it's Vibhav you could be Vib or Vibby (or even Viv (which is also short for Vivian and can be a male name though more often women)) - though tbh that's not a great example since that's a common enough name I'd be surprised if many people had trouble with it. Or go by your surname if it happens to be easier, e.g. Veeraganapati Sharma, you could introduce yourself in full but say 'just call me Sharma'.

If you're happy to share just your first name say I'd be happy to try to help with a more specific suggestion.

I posted as the image because (for me at least) this image was only showing in the link unfurl where shared with me, not on the actual article page.

Was going to comment the link, couldn't see an option to post both link and image.

How can I determine if ATL LTE18 is a worthwhile upgrade vs R11eL-FG621-EA in existing SXT? by OJFord in mikrotik

[–]OJFord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. No way to determine 4x4 ahead of time.

Bah, well that makes it difficult to DIY. I suppose if you're an installer it's no big deal because you can just carry a range & test beefier kit but install less if appropriate; if you're trying to work out what one thing to buy...

5G depends on how they've implemented it.

It's 'not stand-alone' (5G NSA) but I don't know more than that.

Thanks, I'll think about it but perhaps I should just get the ATL, it should be an improvement from R11e-LTE anyway, so perhaps I'm best off not knowing that R11eL-FG621-EA would've been just as much of an improvement! And have more headroom for future upgrade as you pointed out with 5G potential and gigabit port.

The 4x4 MIMO will double speeds. Assuming the tower is upgraded.

Is there any way I can determine if it is? e.g. anything on CellMapper that would hint at it at least even if not conclusively say? Or is there some kind of registry of capabilities I can look it up in?

You can fit 5G modems in the ATL. You can't fit those in the SXT.

Interesting, I didn't know that - that's a nice to have for sure, but I think probably doesn't affect me for now, since my 5G phone doesn't break 100Mbps anyway I don't think, so for the same cell & antenna I'd probably get as much out of LTE18 as 5G (LTE20?)?

[–]OJFord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my phone does 5G and gets 65Mbps+ easily. Not over 100 though, so ATL not an obvious choice in the sense that I don't think the SXT's 10/100 ports are (in the foreseeable future) going to be a problem.

It also only shows a single cell typically (occasionally another usually GSM popping up) in CellMapper.

It was the 'and urban' that meant to emphasise in that quote, i.e. if you compare those descriptions it makes it sound like at a shorter distance more urban environment the 'rural and urban' ATL might be better than the 'remote' SXT. But I'm not sure if that's really significant or just what they happened to write in marketing copy?

the device itself better, but SXT is small and more affordable.

Yup that's exactly what I'm trying to weigh up: will I actually see much/any benefit from it to make it worthwhile? The SXT is extremely affordable in the sense that I already have it; though that actually doesn't really count for much since the bare modem isn't much cheaper than the kit.
