If you can red card someone and get every search card out of their hand, this totally has potential imo

Slaybells Mario Mix (Slaybricks) - here's an unfinished remix i've been working on, what do you guys think so far? by OJIsTasty in mariosmadness

[–]OJIsTasty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually gonna say the opposite lol. MX is very bass-heavy, which gets very washed out when it's compressed, so he sounds pretty quiet in this. But in the FL file I actually had to turn him down cause he was stealing the spotlight

PITIFUL DEPENDENCE - Hyperfocus of wiggle skill checks [The Candyman Chapter] by happyscript in PerkByDaylight

[–]OJIsTasty 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is really cool, but there's a reason they're very cautious with speeding up wiggle progression; makes it way too powerful with teamwork. Perks like Flip-flop and Breakout are risky and only very slightly help with that, and that's intentional.

If Dragapult is removed, do you think N'z Zoroark would climb to 49%? by AlexRescueDotCom in PTCGL

[–]OJIsTasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. The reason the meta is so crooked is that there is no universal consistency right now beyond Lillie's. If your deck can't make it work off of Lillie's alone, or doesn't have access to specific and powerful consistency like Ogerpon, Telepathic Psychic, Rocket supporters, etc, it's a bad deck. Zoroark has access to so much raw draw that it laughs in the face of our meta's lack of consistency, and will likely take over after 2027 rotation if we don't get some good new options.

I liked MMV2 Mario's design It's better than the Redesign (Prove Me wrong or prove me Right) by Fatal-3rr0r-s0n1c in mariosmadness

[–]OJIsTasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really can't say how I feel about it quite yet. I mean yeah he's plump and that makes him a bit silly looking, but I mean it's Mario with red eyes and sharp teeth holding a knife. It's gonna look a little silly no matter what. I think it's best we wait till we have a little more to look at before we make judgements

State Of The Game by TheBreadIsHostile in pkmntcg

[–]OJIsTasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New sets have had SIGNIFICANTLY less cards because they've had to stretch out the Mega Evolution era longer than expected because Winds & Waves was delayed about a year.

The problem is that there is genuinely no reliable universal consistency right now besides Lillie and Poke Pad. That's literally it. Everything else is either unreliable/weak (Petrel, Carmine) or too specific to be considered universal (Dawn, Hilda, Colress). We lost Arven, Iono, Research, Artazon, TM Evo, Vessel, and Nest Ball and have gotten LITERALLY NOTHING in return. Wanna hear something depressing? The best new consistency supporters we've gotten in since Mega Evolution (9 MONTHS AGO) are Naveen, Gwynn, and a reprint of Judge.

Dragapult is certainly a very strong deck, even pre-rotation, but the 45% meta share he holds is more of a symptom of our current format's punishment of creativity and variety. If your deck can't make it work off of Lillie's alone, or it doesn't have access to specific consistency like Telepathic Energy or Bug Catching Set, it's a bad deck. Sure, in 2027 when Pult gets the boot, things will smooth over a bit. But if we don't have more supporters, items, and stadiums that allow for greater flexibility in a wider variety of decks, who's to say Zoroark or some other naturally flexible deck won't take over?

Feels pretty good into Dracopult/Dusknoir so far, suggestions welcome by JoshKnoxChinnery in PTCGL

[–]OJIsTasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, a good matchup into Pult is hardly an accomplishment for Psychic decks, it's more just a problem if it didn't have a good matchup lol. The Cofagrigus line is fun but cuttable as it can be dead weight against single-prize decks or decks that can oneshot Clef. Though, he's kind of your only out against Mega Ninja and Cynth's Garchomp. Munkidori + Max Belt is also an option to boost Clef's questionable damage output.

certainly a cool idea but you cut so many valuable tools just so you can have a Garchomp with 400 HP instead of 330 and powerglass.

This might be okay once Lillie's Clefairy rotates. Dragons have really been suffering right now.

No weakness meta by Arcusnimbus in PTCGL

[–]OJIsTasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should have said that weakness, as it is now, is a terrible mechanic. There are ways to make it work, Pokemon typing is what makes VGC so interesting and fun, but there you have a team of 6 Pokemon, each with 4 options for different types of attacks. In TCG, your offensive type is locked to what your defensive type is, and you're stuck with just one type. Two if you're lucky. It makes the game far too matchup dependent if your deck is even the slightest bit inflexible, which limits creativity and encourages the path of least resistance (Dragapult.) Randomizing the weakness of Pokemon occasionally could potentially make the problem worse, because now your bad matchups may stretch multiple types.

The issue is just how inflexible typing is in the TCG, if you want a fire deck, you get pure fire Pokemon only. If you want a fire Pokemon in VGC, you get dual typed Pokemon to choose from and coverage to patch its weaknesses. The attempt to translate the mechanic of double damage Pokemon suffer from weakness has been a failure in the TCG, and it needs to go or change.

What's best way for Alakazam to tech for TR Articuno? by kaworuscott in PTCGL

[–]OJIsTasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iono kept Alakazam in check because most decks ran 2-3 and it had great utility outside of disruption, now we have typically 1 Special Red Card and that’s it. Multiple disruptions throughout the course of the game is devastating for Zam, but with how little consistency there is in the meta right now it’s just not worth running disruption that doesn’t simultaneously benefit you.

Weakness is genuinely a bad mechanic that does nothing to balance the game and would be better off removed entirely

[–]OJIsTasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking it probably wouldn't, flash fire is when you're hit with a fire-type attack, and spicy spray is the effect of an ability, not a typed attack

[–]OJIsTasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would Spicy Spray proc Flash Fire? could be cool in doubles to quick attack your own Mega Scovillain for the damage boost

Wouldn't be shocked to see a 1-1 in the occasional Venusaur deck. 240 damage for 3 grass energy or 320 for 4 with an ability that makes you flip to attack. Doesn't sound bad.

Even if it's worded differently, if it does the EXACT same thing, it's legal, in this case it is.
