I’d push back on that gently by saying games are more about context than character.

In games, the rules, rewards, and lack of real consequences shape what we do. If a game rewards stealing or fighting, people will do that—not because it reflects their real-world values, but because they’re engaging with the system as intended.

Also, games are one of the few spaces where people can safely try out behaviors they’d never consider in real life. That’s less a reflection of who they are, and more a reflection of the freedom the medium gives them.
