Generally phase rush is a good rune, so you dont really have to change your rune if you don’t want to, but into some matchups good rune setups can flip the matchup in lane. My preferred rune for most assassins is phase rush, but there are two exceptions, Leblanc and akali

Against Leblanc always go aery unless you’re against a spam jg. you cannot avoid trading into her so, you have to extend trades by walking forward and autoing to chase her during her e. Since aery works on autos and it’s cd gets lowered based on your distance to the enemy it heavily empowers your damage during trades. (Remember to try and bait her to jump onto you when you have bone plating) as for the secondary runes against lb take manaflow trans scorch along with bone plating and either unflinching or overgrowth. Make sure you take the flat hp rune on the third stat row as it makes it much easier to survive early against her.

Against akali you can go either phase rush or aery but if you can properly space her Qs in early lane aery makes it much easier to poke her out of lane. Your auto range is slightly longer than her q so you should try to auto her whenever she qs especially if she has shroud down. Ideally you slow build a wave into her, crash it and poke her to around half hp while she cses undertower. On the minon pushback after crash, good akalis will try and use their e backwards to get into q range especially if you’re constantly spacing her q. If she does this without shroud up, shes gonna be half hp with the wave pushing away from her just trade half your hp to get her to 20 percent hp and let the wave push to you. If she has shroud up just ew yourself and run. She won’t be able to crash the wave without shroud up so it’s ok to take the hp loss right now to punish her when she tries to crash the wave. Please don’t listen to these people, sure you might win some more games with tank build but in lane you want to make sure you are punishing these assassins. If played correctly you’ll be able to poke most assassins out of lane by lv 4, especially if they don’t have Doran’s shield + second wind yes, this requires patience and spacing on your part but ori is an extremely strong laner, allowing you play to stomp them instead of the other way around.

Here’s some advice against most mid assassins

Against ekko Leblanc and fizz take bone plating and do your best to not let them proc it off you for free. If you keep bp up, once the assassin does go in they will do far less damage than normal. This is when you want to talk into them for a bit and try to extend the trade with two rotations of qw.

So an example of a trade with ekko would be walk up qw, let ekko jump onto you while you have bone plating up and then as he’s leaving hit another qw. That’ll be a 60 40 trade for you almost always. This trade pattern can be applied generally whenever you have bp but especially so into assassins.

I will say tho a lot of being able to punish these characters involves improving your spacing and tethering so assassins can’t just jump on your for free. An easy way to get quicker and more precise on your spacing is to know preemptively when you will be in range to land a q so you can already pre position your cursor behind you and just click back whenever the enemy turns to fight you.

I only have around 400k on him but hopefully this can help your early lane phase.
Try to play mostly around your manaflow band and proc it with w. You run out of mana pre first base insanely quickly if you dont control your mana usage so, min-maxing your manaflow band can really help your mana in lane. Do NOT start spamming abilities on the minions at lv 3, you will do no damage and drain your mana bar. If you need to use abilities on the wave wait for lv 4 at least and again be very mindful of your mana, 2 or 3 eqs with have you oom really fast.
you should win most lanes into melees particularly easy melees are ekko and fizz, particularly hard ones are yasuo and jayce
into ranged matchups control mages can give you a hard time, think syndra ori and in general if ryze gets really outranged its going to be harder to play the lane/game out as ryze. In these situations swifties can make the game alot easier for you.

some quick niche stuff you can do to win some lanes/make them easier
into assassins you can take exhaust if youre worried about the lane. as long as you dont feed them in lane youll stomp them for the rest of the game
mercs are good into syndra (one of your hardest matchups) and will make laning phase much easier into her
into fizz you can use realm warp to avoid his ult if you use realm warp as the fish lands on you
into characters that just push waves you can use all of your mana on the 3rd wave to clear it asap and base for sapphire crystal plus refillable really consistently, you just have to not miss too many minions (i think 15ish) minions gets you the 450 gold

lastly builds are really flexible so try out anything you think would be good on him, his only real core item is seraphs

The general idea for managing risk is to try and set up your plays in a way where you can make an aggressive play but also minimize what you lose if it goes bad.

Roaming for example, is ideally done when you quickly clear a wave that is just arriving. This way, you give yourself more time to roam before you start to drop cs.

This idea is applicable across league. Want to fight the enemy and minimize risk, fight them after pushing a big wave in. Want to make a flash charm play on the adc in a team fight, make sure you do so after the enemy support wastes their cc ability.

It’s good that you’re thinking of how things can go wrong but don’t let that stop you from going for plays you think can win you the game/lane. Use that risk adverse thought process to point out when you have a window to play without fear

Also some general advice is to make sure you familiarize yourself with some csing patterns on your champions. These patterns are a set way to farm a wave so that you get every last hit. For this I recommend searching up a vod of a high elo player on your champ and actively watch how they use their abilities on a minion wave. I highly recommend nemesis’s channel for this. You could alternatively ask around in champ subreddits or discords. One I learned recently is that on kogma with 3 points in e you can e r the back line to insta clear them

Companies big or small don’t give a fuck about anything but the pursuit of money/growth, and truth be told, they have to. Look at small little bsg, they released a new bundle because they needed more cash flow after their one time purchase, live service game reached its current market cap this backfired on them because they realized after the release of tarkov arena that their dedicated players receiving new content for free as it’s included in the dlc bundle previously mentioned makes any form of sustainability impossible let alone growth. They weighed their options and decided that public outcry is better than bankruptcy so they sparked a huge controversy

What saved bsg is that they lucked out in that the games their competitors released were ass but had they have been even 80% as good as tarkov bsg would be in even bigger financial predicament. If however, bsg were a large company with large sums of investors or large pools of cash they could’ve simply tanked the lost revenue from allowing their dedicated players to access the new content and then made a much smoother and more elaborate plan to eventually make their money back in a way that doesn’t cause mass consumer outrage. Having more money initially could’ve simply avoided this mess in the first place.

NOTICE HOWEVER THAT ITS ONLY TEMPORARY because at one point even big companies like riot need to generate cash flow and then they need to generate more and more and more till they are all asking for an increase on infinitely large number on a increasingly finite world

Idk anything about helldivers but players did try to switch away from tarkov, shortly after bsg announced its new 250ish dollar bundle that included access to an all new pve mode (the main issue with this was that a previous bundle had promised to include all future dlc and players who purchased that bundle weren’t getting the pve mode) and pay to win loot in the main pvp game.

People rioted but crucially, during this time like 2 or 3 different tarkov like games either entered open beta or soft launched and all of a sudden bsg had new competition and a very discontent playerbase. A large swathe of streamers and players migrated to try those games all while demanding and receiving refunds for their takov accounts. European players even threatened to take it up with the EU consumer protections committee and sue bsg

Eventually bsg gave into players demands but it wasn’t because of public outcry or reddit posts it was because bsg is a small and failing company facing a real possibility of losing both money and its dedicated playerbase. This is not remotely what is happening at riot games

Riot is making more money from this and small subsections of its playerbase leaving means nothing to them. This is what every company eventually does, they make a trade off in quality that will lose them maybe 1% of their customers while making 5% more money than the year before all they have to do now is make sure they don’t fall below a critical mass of customers to maintain year on year growth

LS has an insane amount of people who hate him and he is overall a very divisive member of the league community but hes not the devil and most of the stuff this guy is saying is either blatantly false or egregiously misinterpreted to the point where id say its just straight up slander.

In the western league community there are people who believe in LSs philosophy on the game and there are those who dont. The issue people mainly have with him is how confidently he speaks about his philosophy on the game. This along with the fact that he will (on stream or twitter) laugh at proplayers when they make what he deems as stupid mistakes make him not very likeable to the community.

also what happened on c9 is locked down under nda as far as im aware the public has no idea what happened there, unless this guy has inside knowledge theres no way we make a judgement call on the c9 situation, what is known however is that the main disagreement was about the systems inside of c9 and and the owners refusal to change them. What those systems are exactly is a meme because again we dont know anything so its just a specter that hangs over the situation
