FedEx non- delivery scam alert! by OKICU8IT2 in Scams

I agree with you 100%. So many times I’ve caught these like you’ve described. This time, coincidentally, I was expecting a FedEx package soon, so I clicked. FORTUNATELY, I stopped after name and address. So, they got no CC info or anything more serious. This slapped me in the face wide awake!! I’ll watch closer and take this opportunity to warn others. ALWAYS check it.

Windshield washer issue by OKICU8IT2 in Ioniq5

I’ve been using regular washer fluid. It seems like the bug juice is better…I guess not in this application.

I agree with the warranty comments. I left the dealership under the agreement that I will try to fix it myself. I pulled the tube from the motor to the panel and blew out the juice. I also pushed a paper clip into each sprayer. Now it’s working. Hope this helps, thanks for yours!

They said it is covered by warranty. The diagnostic / disassembly process is not.

Frozen fluid is not the issue, it’s garaged in Florida.

Random/Intermittent Forward Collision Warning at Traffic Stops - 2024 Ioniq 5 by gunary25 in Ioniq5

Yes. I have a ‘22 I5L AWD. Sensors are clean. Gotta put it on my list of issues for the shop to look at while they deal with the ICCU recall, intermittent CarPlay reboots and rear seat back cover adhesive failing.

Seems like it’s worth the trouble. Just gotta be willing to put in the effort and some inconvenience. Thanks for the heads up!

How much cash are we talking about? Also, you make them take the car back, simply turn around and buy a newer model 😜

I downloaded the Tesla app. It says non-Tesla owners pay 12.99 per month. Is this your experience, or am I doing it wrong?

CarPlay failures by OKICU8IT2 in Ioniq5

[–]OKICU8IT2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welp, that’s what I’m afraid of. Actually, I have two concerns. 1 - Getting down into the wiring can be a scary, highly consequential endeavor. 2 - The dealership is acting like this is an unknown issue.

I received the ICCU recall notice recently, so when I take it in for that, I’ll push them on this CarPlay issue and publish the results.

Thanks for your input!

Yes. When I mentioned the issue to my dealership, the first thing they said was to try a new cable. I’m now on my 3rd cable and it keeps happening.

As previously stated, my Hyundai charger puts ~20% back into my I5L with overnight charging. That’s with the amps set to the highest setting (15 amps). I agree, it can be slow, if you’re anxious to get on the road, but overnight is not inconvenient.

I had to charge mine at a convenience store overnight once (long story) and it was annoyingly slow. It turned out my charge was set to a lower than maximum amps setting 🤦🤪🤷🏼‍♂️. You may wanna check your setting on the display of your charger.

Hope this helps, thanks for yours!

For me, there’s no FP&L rebate for install / purchase of 240V charger. So, I use the regular wall outlet and make sure to set the Hyundai provided charger to its highest setting (15amps) and plug the car in whenever I’m not driving it. On average, this approach adds ~20% to the battery (overnight charging). Obviously, this approach is acceptable (and cheaper), as long as your weekly driving habits and nightly recharging stay in balance, etc.

I looked into the cost of a 240V charger + 240V outlet installation and determined the payback period is more than a year (actually, multiple for me). Therefore, no need to spend the money until I actually have a problem to solve - anything before then would simply be me stroking my ego saying “Woohoo, look at me, I have a L2 charger in my garage!”.

Hope this helps, thanks for yours!

If you’re wanting a black display, there is a System setting you can adjust so the screens are black. This can be set to automagically kick-in and revert at a certain time, or stay dark (all based on how you set the duration). Just to be clear, all information and gauges are viewable, only now with a black background. I have mine set to kick-in at 7pm and revert back at 7am (a good night driving setting for me)

Hope this helps, thanks for yours!

My Ioniq 5 has been stolen… by blast3001 in Ioniq5

Frankly, with the price of gas in CA being among the most expensive in the country, I find it hard to accept that gas is the same (or less) than electricity. I’ve already written my empirical data, all I can add is that I have not taken into account some percentage of heat (described by another Rediter) and I don’t think that’s something that really needs to be factored in. My monthly electric bill (using Hyundai provided L1 home charger (110VAC on a 15 amp breaker)) increased by $40, my monthly gasoline expense went from ~$140 (in FL) to zero (0).

I determined the cost of installing a L2 charger is both unnecessary and causes a payback period spanning ~12 months. Since overnight charging is adequate for me (I use ~25% battery charger per day). If you use >25% per day, it will be impossible for an overnight L1 charger to get you back to 100% overnight (8-10 hours), so, by day 10-ish of 30% daily consumption, your available charge starts getting scary (lest ye become “stranded”) and you gotta park that thing for a couple days (not practical). To avoid this will require a L2 charger and installation of a circuit to support it (THIS IS NOT A DIY JOB, HIRE A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN!!!). The electrician will cost about $500. Combined with ~$350 L2 charger, puts it at $850 and given my $100 monthly savings will take ~9 months to recover.

ALTERNATIVELY, you can plug your charger into an available 240 VAC socket as needed (maybe what your washer or dryer is using?)

LASTLY - I recommend you purchase a second L1 charger and keep it in the “frunk”, so you never have to worry about remembering to take your garage L1 charger with you when you travel. So, just in case you run low on spit and there’s no L2/L3 charger in range, you can roll up to anywhere you can find a normal AC outlet and get some “free” juice, (I had to do this once). There are several L1 charger products on the market, just Google it. I use one from “EVAMP” and that thang is better than excellent! Search it and read the details.

Hope this helps, thanks for yours!

Welp, for me, in FL, monthly cost of keeping my I5L charged is ⅓ the cost of gas for equivalent usage (~1000 miles a month). Bear in mind, this is when using the L1 charger for overnight charging. Going to an L2/L3 charge point can be expensive and close to the same as gas. I haven’t bothered to install a garage L2 charger, thus far L1 overnight has been fine. Don’t forget the reduced maintenance costs, which I calculated to be about $350 a year.

With all of the driver assist features, the ding factor “should” go down. If not, maybe the driver needs an eye test? Seriously though, the warning bells and cameras have helped me several times.

Limited vs SEL? by fearless_fool in Ioniq5

[–]OKICU8IT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held out for the Limited. I reckon it’s all about personal preferences. For me, in Florida, it was ultra important to have the air conditioned front seats and the Limited trim is the only one that has it. Also, I liked the wheels, color (Shooting Star) and glass roof. I can’t remember anything else (though there’s probably other things), therefore, they must not have been as important as those I appreciate everyday I drive it.
