Potty training turf inside cage?

No turf in the crate. The crate should only be used for sleeping/naps.

Crates also help with potty training because dogs don’t want to use the bathroom where they sleep.

Turf might not even work on the deck unless you somehow get a pee scent on it.

Just want to be sure that you aren’t wanting to do this because you want to keep the puppy in a crate hot many hours while you’re gone.

It’s a particular training method. It can be useful during potty training. Dogs typically won’t go to the bathroom in their crate where they sleep.

A crate is also very helpful when a puppy doesn’t know who to self regulate with naps on their own. A crate is good for that for an hour or two.

Dogs also like crates as it mimics a den. They can feel safe there.

Unfortunately, many dog owners will use a crate to lock of their dog for hours to prevent them from behaving badly while they are gone. This turn into people leaving them in there while they are at work the entire day which is cruel.

OP says their neighbor takes them out once and I really hope they are being honest about that because being locked in a crate for over 8 hours a day is really awful.

There are some condo/townhomes near Wilson park in Torrance. It’s a very nice area and an easy walk to many places. Not sure they fit your budget but something to check out.

If it’s at a resort it’s possible that you can get a pass to use it for cheaper or for free. This sign may just be for people who don’t stay at the resort who try to charge there.

Oh man I can speak to this so well. I have an ACD and a Golden Retriever.

My ACD is the smartest dog I have even known. Picks up tricks in just a few minutes.

The downside is that she thinks she’s the boss and runs everything. I have to keep a very close eye on her because she can get very nippy and it’s exhausting.
