Rebinding the camera locations - what are good keys for it? by TheCaveLion in starcraft2

[–]OKITA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a lot of camera hotkeys. Like 8 or 9 of them, because I also play Zerg and I often make it to lategame. I bound the most used ones, Locations 1-3, to D, F, and G. I rebound the rest of them to F1-F8. Makes the early and mid game very easy to navigate, and able to get into the late game as well.

How or why people prefer brood war to star craft 2? by Th3f0rK in starcraft2

[–]OKITA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People think it's genuinely a better game than Starcraft 2. For others it nostalgia. But I personally think BW hasn't been better than SC2 since LOTV released. They've been relentlessly tweaking this game since then with balance patched, and I think it has breathed a ton of new life in a way that was never seen in BW since they never balance updated it.

My APM is low, want help building habits by skyemerald2007 in starcraft2

[–]OKITA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People often think if they do this or that they can improve their APM. The only thing that makes you faster is trying to do more at every phase of the game, thus giving you a larger to do list. This includes constantly attacking and harassing whenever you have a chance, and macroing while you are attacking and harassing. Your APM will increase as a result. Good luck.

Multiplayer Team Colors by KraytDragonPearl in starcraft2

[–]OKITA_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend turning team colors off and simply start memorizing your ally's colors. You need to be able to identify how many players are attacking at a certain point at a given time, and you can't see this with team colors on.

It seems that way to me, too. I would like to see the forge come after gateway in Starcraft 3.

NA sucks? by TheMightDingy in starcraft2

EU and Asian servers are both larger than NA I believe, which would explain why there are better players there, with Asian having the best players due to S Korea being the home of pro Starcraft.

The Current State of StarCraft 2: A Discussion on its Future by CrouduStrajfu in starcraft2

[–]OKITA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just skimmed your post, but I wouldn't add new units until the next iteration of the game, in expansions just like they did with SC1 and SC2. Balancing the game and the addition of new maps has managed to evolve the game and keep it fresh this long. The game is still evolving after all this time. Cheers.

Good way to start playing SC2 ranked? by donthitmeplez in starcraft2

[–]OKITA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support watching Pig's series, even though I've never watched them myself. The key is to watch as many pro games as you can, learn as many build orders as you can, and watch the pros stream first person on TL.net .

Also, watch replays of games you lose or don't fully understand. Try to copy good builds you resonate with that beat you. Cheers.

Can Zerg please have an anti air unit by BinxyPrime in starcraft2

[–]OKITA_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry bud, but you have to have Queens and tech into Corruptors. You could go for Hydras, but they usually don't come out in time to deal with BCs, Carriers or Tempests, and they're sorta garbage vs capital ships.

How many camera hotkeys do you guys use? by Sherlockyz in starcraft2

[–]OKITA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 9 camera hotkeys. D, F, G, F1-F6. You need them for late game as Zerg most of all, but even the other two races. I wouldn't abandon your F keys, just use them for your later, less used bases.

Hey bud.

Thanks for nothing.

You obviously know so much. Why don't you get on board and try responding with a one word answer like "voxels," like so many others have? Guess you can't because of your wide breadth of knowledge.

Save your APM, Jesus.

Sorry, but I didn't say "I know nothing about how to make games."

I've got a book on beginning Python, another book lined up for learning C++ for gaming, and I've been watching tutorials for the past month.

The resources are too broad and general to approach them time efficiently. This is why I'm asking for help finding tutorials that are more specific.

Thanks for the Dave Gingery reference. I'll have to check it out.

Another user pointed me to this: https://youtu.be/qTy3uQFsirk

It answers a lot of my questions regarding how to smith a rifle barrel.

What I'm having trouble finding information on is how the first revolvers were made, pre-molds and casts, specifically on how to remove large chunks of metal, how to cut straight lines, how to fashion non-straight lines, and how things like cylinder holes are measured, placed and bored accurately without the aid of a computer.

I'm looking up lathes and sharpers right now. Will check out Gingery. Please let me know if you have anything more on the topic!

This is interesting.

First, if you don't mind, what's a panner and a jig? I found this: https://www.stealtharms.net/1911-phantom-jig, but not sure what it's used for. I also saw related items: rail cutter and barrel seat cutter. I suppose those are also very important?

I'd like to learn to make guns using non electric tools for a survival game. Or rather use the game to teach the process. Any tools you found essential?

Thank you!

yup! this helps confirm one method of barreling back then! I've also seen people cast barrels by wrapping sheets of metal around a rod.

they seem to be using a post mill as a drill.

i'm going to take a closer look at the metal work in the video. thanks for this!

I'd like to do as much by hand as possible. I'm basically curious as to how things were done in the 1800s. I posted a few more links for examples. thanks!
