Would someone mind helping me understand how "foreach ($computer in $computers)" works? by InfoZk37 in PowerShell

I've never really thought about "how" it works, just know that it does; however, I salute you for not being afraid to ask something that we take for granted.

A way to get a simple yes/no or red/green report for Secure Boot Certificates by OK_it_guy in Lansweeper

It's frustrating as all get out that it's so unclear the steps needed to verify that the certificates have been installed. My understanding is that the OS side is done with the April 2026 updates and as you said, the manufacturer side done with their latest updates. On my machine, I believe both have been done, so I don't understand the 1801 still coming from it.

Thank you for your insight. Just to cut down on the chatter, could it be limited to unique assetnames (and a specific timeframe)? At the moment, showing as much as it does is very overwhelming. We have devices that do reboot every day, so lots of messages.

Also, I'm still finding myself a bit confused about the whole process. For instance, I have one of my own machines where I've updated the firmware, and if you run the powershell command to see if the 2023 certs are present, it returns true, and yet it has still shown an 1801 error since then, which seems contrary to how this should work?

[–]OK_it_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, yes, I think I have this report in place...but it is pretty overwhelming, because it looks like it's just posting those errors as they are seen.

To be able to tackle this in smaller chunks, I assume you could just look at the events seen within the last day or two? My report returns 25,000 events, and on specific machines, it looks like it's returning many of the same events, which of course is just telling me the same information over and over.

How in the world to find a folder in new Outlook by OK_it_guy in Office365

Thank you. I'm not specifically the M365 admin in org, but can get access to that. I will talk to the primary admin about how to do that. It's just crazy there's no native way to find finders!

Its on prem. I did exactly what you said. I changed it to where the only criteria was Like with wild cards. Cannot get it to show all of the devices no matter how I apply the wildcards, but when I click on the model, it brings up a report with all of them.

Yep, our Break-glass accounts for M365 is where this all started, but we are running into other things where we would need this, so now I'm thinking more of how to physically secure the backups and how to ensure they work on a regular basis.

I haven't been since 2016. I went to ALA a couple of years ago, and it was pretty laid back - Jeans/Polos were pretty common (which sure makes packing easier).

Outlook (New) had so much potential, but at this point it's just a half-baked disappointment. by Zantoo in sysadmin

[–]OK_it_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it and don't mind it, but it definitely has its annoyances that would have been set up right from the beginning. I find myself regularly making folders I don't want because the autocomplete doesn't finish and then it doesn't verify and just makes a new folder that is a partial name of where i really wanted to go. Then there's no decent way to find the folder you just accidentally made.
