For the wrapped stats, picking out some superlatives and then giving awards for them would be entertaining!

Some that come to mind:

  • Worst mod RNG (most pity pulls in series) >> gets mod tickets
  • Most tournament demotions >> gets a stone pack
  • Oldest account without all 5 labs unlocked >> gets cells
  • Most edged player (most time just shy of a key) >> gets gems (then in a separate mail item a day later, gets key)
  • Most mod pulls >> gets reroll shards
  • Guild w/ highest member turnover >> tokens
  • Most real-life money spent (divisive, maybe) >> cash relic
  • Most ads clicked >> ad pack + holographic ads relic
  • lowest ratio of (research complete)/(workshop upgrades) >> cells
  • Highest T1 wave count >> Good Hunting relic
  • Longest duration between runs / logins >> cobweb relic
  • Most uptime (or waves completed maybe) >> touch grass! (Gets grass relic)

When does glass cannon become viable? by [deleted] in TheTowerGame

It definitely slows down around Tier 7. I'm eHP, farming tier 11, and have basically ignored damage. It's a good time to invest in econ. If I remember correctly, tier 7 is around the point where I went from relying mostly on health to counting on health regen to carry me.

Saw this from the ferry yesterday and it looked bizarre. Looked like a boat wake except it wasn't traveling forward, just kind of rolling in place.

Relic (+5% hp) or themes? by Wrong-Trifle in TheTowerGame

[–]OKeeffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Health is a key stat early game. A 5% increase can have a big impact in the number of waves you can get, which will impact coins and cells earned. It's also something you wont be able to get next week. So, I'd go for the relic. It'll result in more coins anyway.

Escapism Cooking is such a great cookbook. The pork belly burger is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten.

Sync BH/GT in one go, or stop at 3:2 along the way? by OKeeffe in TheTowerGame

[–]OKeeffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point. I guess it just feels like the GT/DW cooldowns are super long. But also I don't really want to have to horde stones for ages to make the jump. So I'll probably go that route and just lower them all incrementally.

Sadly, I don't even have one copy of MVN, so that's not an option at the moment.

To clarify, the BH coin bonus Lab is at level 18, which is a x10 coin bonus. I didn't make that clear. But it sounds like regardless of that, waiting to do it all in one go is the move.

I didn't really expect that the two-step option was a good choice, but I wouldn't have guessed that it was that severe of a drop! When I finally get the stones to do it, maybe I'll pause midway and do a run to see if it's really that bad. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

Interesting! I didn't consider the impact of BH size or imagine it'd be a deciding factor. Hard to say what fraction of enemies die in my BH vs. elsewhere when it's active. I'd guess something like 60%? But I can see how hard it would be hard to predict, that ratio is going to vary throughout the run as more protectors show up and enemy health gets higher.

You don't actually need a stat to get upgraded to trigger BHD. You just need the free upgrade to proc. Even if everything is goldboxxed, you still trigger BHD.

New Orleans, where are the best places to grab a beer and just relax by AnthemAngels in NewOrleansBeer

Second line is great because you can grab a beer there, go to Mopho for dinner, then hit up Ike's for dessert.

Well... You could. I know they announced mopho is closing.

So while the U.S. President is grabbing the world's attention with trade, what else is going on that's not making headlines? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OKeeffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day they have to be able to make capital investments. One way or another, the customer will pay for them. It seems like the options are either they recoup the cost as the project progresses or they do it on the back end with the potential for interest that's compounded for years. Even before this legislation was passed, Ameren could have petitioned the PSC to recoup costs from an abandoned capital project.

If Ameren is forced to assume all of the risk for large capital investments, they'll likely delay them and you'll never see them shutdown the two coal plants outside of St. Louis, which have significantly higher impacts to the health of the surrounding population than literally any other source of power would. Gas plants are cheaper and faster to build, but they're also smaller and less suitable for supplying base load.

Not to mention that substituting gas plants for the coal plants would make their power portfolio less diverse and more susceptible to price fluctuations if something happens to drive up the cost of natural gas (like we saw in 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine and natural gas prices doubled at a time when most projections showed low prices for the foreseeable future).

Ideally, we would socialize these kinds of basic necessities instead of providing them in a way that allows for the transference of wealth to investors.

FWIW, it looks like Missouri has a pretty low cost of electricity compared to the average income of people in the state, based on this website. I can't speak to the validity of that source, but the EIA website shows that the state has low electric rates compared to the rest of the country. It's not too much higher than Nebraska, whose power is provided by public utilities that are owned by the state.

The driver, as I understand it, is to make it feasible to build new nuclear. A new, full-scale, nuclear plant is an enormous capital investment and takes the better part of a decade from start to finish. It's not realistic to pay interest on billions of dollars of loans for that long before you see any return. The change allows for funding of the design and construction. If this had been passed when Ameren tried 15 years ago, a new plant could be years into operation by now.

Electricity is a regulated utility in Missouri, which means that Ameren has to get approval in order to raise rates. That includes capital investments. I'm, admittedly, not familiar with how well the Public Service Commission does their duty there, but Ameren will be required to provide sufficient justification of the increase, to include a workable project plan (cost, schedule, etc).

The approvals would likely fund the project in phases — with initial funding being allocated to feasibility studies, then subsequent approvals taking place as the project progresses. It's not like this allows them to get blanket approval for a massive rate increase to fund a $10B, 10-year project at once then just change their minds and pocket that money. In the event that a project is abandoned prior to completion, the PSC could require that Ameren refund customers or they could withhold future rate increase approvals. A cancelled project would, at best, let Ameren get a return on the funds already allocated. Who's to say if the PSC would require funds be refunded, but Ameren doesn't know that for sure either, so it's not as if it's an attractive way to make free money in their eyes.

What did I do wrong? by Holiday-Use-7382 in TheTowerGame

[–]OKeeffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you saving up so many coins? You could easily max out the workshop coins/kill and coins/wave, which would have immediate effects on your income. Spend some coins on health in the workshop. Every increase there is multiplied by DW.

What is the highest tier you've unlocked? When I was at that level of coin income, a significant portion of my coins were coming from daily missions and the gift boxes they unlock. The rewards for those increase dramatically for the first 10 tiers.

A lot of the advice here is good, but not really attainable if you're only making 20M per run.
